Job description

Accounting is a black box for most founders: expensive, slow, and in the end, no one knows exactly what they're paying for.
mika changes that. We are building AI-powered accounting that companies can manage themselves, without an accountant in between. Document scanning, classification, e-invoicing, validation, and reporting are automated, instead of being processed by an external desk on a monthly basis.
We are 30 people, serve around 800 customers, and have just completed our seed round.

Tasks
Our inbound works. We convince people who find us. What we are building now is the other direction: conversations with companies that don't even know their accounting is a solvable problem yet.
That's exactly where you come in. You build your own pipeline instead of taking over a ready-made one.

Outbound (approx. 50 %)

  • Identify and prioritize target customers: agencies, consultancies, SaaS companies, and e-commerce in the German SME sector

  • Set up your own multichannel sequences (email, LinkedIn, phone) and continuously optimize them against response rates

  • Cold calling, without it ruining your week

  • Conduct initial conversations where you make the need visible in the first place

Qualifying and Closing (approx. 40 %)

  • Quickly qualify demo requests and trials from content, website, and partners

  • Conduct short qualification calls and understand the actual accounting situation: current firm, volume, systems, pain points

  • Hold product demos tailored to the specific case, not a feature list

  • Effectively resolve objections regarding changing tax advisors, liability, and migration

  • Close deals and ensure structured handover to Customer Success

Trade Fairs and Events (approx. 10 %)

  • You will be present at trade fairs and startup events, at the booth and engaging people beforehand

  • You approach people who are not planning to talk to you and turn it into a conversation

  • You close good conversations directly, and the rest go into follow-up

Systems and Numbers

  • Maintain the pipeline cleanly in HubSpot

  • Know your conversion rates per stage and understand where the bottlenecks are

  • Document objections, reasons for wins and losses, so the entire team can learn from it

Qualifications
We look more at personality and direction here than years on a CV.

  • First sales experience: internship, working student position, or one to two years in a sales role, preferably SaaS, but open to other areas too

  • Business background from studies or training. You don't need to be a tax expert, but terms like trade tax, corporate tax, or annual financial statements are not foreign to you

  • You proactively approach strangers, both on the phone and at trade shows, and a 'no' doesn't throw you off

  • You want to sell, and you want to sell this. You will understand our product in days, not months

  • Structured way of working: you know at all times where your conversations stand and why

  • Fluent German, as you will be discussing finances with managing directors

  • Berlin or willingness to relocate

Nice to have

  • First own outbound experience, having built sequences from scratch

  • Experience at trade fairs or in event sales

  • Understanding of accounting, tax advisory, or fintech products

  • Experience with HubSpot or sales engagement tools

Benefits

  • Up to €55,000 gross salary, around €100,000 OTE with good target achievement, uncapped commission

  • A product with a clear cost advantage over the status quo

  • Sales and communication training from the start, you won't be thrown in the deep end

  • Direct access to the founders, short decision-making processes, no reporting layers

  • Own accounts and own pipeline in the area that will drive growth in 2026

  • Office in Berlin-Kreuzberg, hybrid with at least 3 days in the office

  • Budget for further training and sales tooling

  • Urban Sports Club membership

  • Deutschlandticket

  • Access to Corporate Benefits and company discounts

Hiring Process

  1. Intro call with Recruiting (~30 min.) — Quick check on role, timing, expectations, and compensation.

  2. Interview with the Hiring Manager (~60 min.) — How you approach people, what you've sold so far, and a short trial pitch: you pitch mika, we play the counterpart.

  3. Founder Call (~30 min.) — Less about skills, more about values, goals, and long-term fit.

At mika, we value diversity and are working towards an environment where everyone on the team can perform at their best. Build the future of finance for small businesses with us.
