INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES:
The internship will take place within the Awareness and Communication department of Handicap International, at the Lyon headquarters, as part of the department's daily tasks with a significant component dedicated to the organization of the "Pyramides de chaussures" deployments. To provide support to the Awareness and Communication department in their awareness-raising actions and all projects.
We invite you to learn about our awareness-raising and mobilization actions by consulting: the Volunteer and Awareness Space for Handicap International.
The mission will take place from January 11 to July 10, 2027 (6 months).
The "Pyramides de chaussures" (Shoes Pyramids) is the highlight of citizen awareness and mobilization for Handicap International. For over 30 years, all citizens, schoolchildren, company employees, sympathizers of Handicap International, and even politicians are invited to come:
- To launch their shoes to show their support for the causes championed by Handicap International, the shoe symbolizing citizen engagement to protect civilians;
- To get informed through an interactive, fun, and educational exhibition on Handicap International, its fields of intervention, and its struggles;
- To meet and exchange with our field experts
Since 2024, Handicap International has developed so-called "mobile" Shoes Pyramids. The goal? To be present year-round throughout France. Thanks to this initiative, we can reach our various target audiences (schoolchildren, sympathizers, general public, elected officials, media) more closely and offer them a comprehensive awareness session on our missions worldwide. To learn more about the Pyramids: https://www.handicap-international.fr/fr/pyramides-de-chaussures
The internship will be structured around three components:
- Support for prospecting (searching for host structures or partners interested in guided tours)
- Event and logistical support for the preparation and execution of deployments.
- Public engagement (guided tours, awareness-raising activities, exchanges during events).
The internship involves regular travel (approximately two per month) for awareness-raising activities and external events. These missions offer opportunities for meaningful encounters and enriching exchanges with diverse audiences.
The internship combines prospecting for new deployment sites, supporting event and logistical coordination, and engaging with diverse audiences. A good understanding of Handicap International's actions, values, and positions is necessary to adapt awareness messages to the geopolitical context.
