Product Manager Freeflow – IoT Hardware and Software (m/f/d)

We are Smart City System, an innovative SME specializing in sustainable mobility solutions. We make parking spaces barrier-free. Cameras capture the license plate upon entry and exit, payment is digital, and control is via our software. Since our founding in 2017, our team has grown to 43 dedicated employees. Together, we have already successfully digitized over 94,500 parking spaces in the DACH region, as well as in Italy and Poland.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the Freeflow portfolio: the ANPR camera, the Focus and Signature info displays, the LED indicators and guidance systems, the parking meter, and our central customer software ParkAgent.

• You will build the roadmap and prioritize based on customer benefit, revenue, and effort. In doing so, you will combine the long cycles of hardware with the short release cycles of software.

• You will regularly get feedback from sales about where deals fail due to the product and what customers miss after launch, and turn this into decisions for the roadmap.

• You will visit customers, parking lots, and assist with support cases. This applies to property owners with ten long-term parkers as well as airports with various quotas.

• You will write requirements that our hardware, firmware, and software development can work with, balancing functionality, cost, and time against each other.

• You will manage the lifecycle of the devices: new generations, component changes, field firmware updates, and end-of-life announcements.

• You will be responsible for integrations with mobile parking apps like EasyPark and Parkster, with parking meter providers, enforcement, and holder tracking, and decide which partners we connect next.

• You will develop prices and packages with the Go-to-Market Lead, support sales in tenders, and prepare product launches with Marketing and Customer Success.

You will report to our Go-to-Market Lead Freeflow, who manages the area with Sales, Project Management, and Product Management. Together, you will ensure that our product optimally suits property owners and parking operators. In implementation, you will work closely with our Head of TechDev and the development team.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in product management, with a significant portion of that involving connected hardware in the field plus software. If you have only been responsible for apps or pure SaaS products so far, this position is not for you.

• A technical degree, such as computer science, electrical engineering, or industrial engineering, or a comparable career path.

• Sufficient software understanding to discuss APIs, data models, and architecture with developers and to realistically estimate effort.

• Experience with what makes hardware different: bills of materials, delivery times, component obsolescence, and a device at a location that you can't just redeploy.

• The willingness to set priorities and defend them against sales, customers, and management, even if not everyone is satisfied.

• Experience with license plate recognition (ANPR/LPR), video analysis, or parking technology is ideal. If you lack this, but the rest fits, still apply. You will gain the expertise with us.
