The Role
We are building an AI platform for the energy industry. Our agents support processes such as supplier switching, grid connection, billing, and meter point operation.
As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will take on a use case from discovery to go-live. You will work directly with business units at municipal utilities and energy suppliers, understand their processes, and translate this knowledge into productive AI agents.
You will combine GenAI engineering with customer work: you will conduct expert interviews and workshops, develop functional solutions using Python, LLMs, RAG, and tools, and ensure they function reliably in daily operations through systematic evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct workshops and expert interviews and understand complex processes and implicit knowledge
- Translate requirements into agent blueprints and technical solutions
- Develop AI agents with LLMs, RAG, Tool Use / Function Calling, and Agent Orchestration
- Prepare documents, data, and knowledge for retrieval and agents
- Develop functional prototypes within a few days and iterate with users
- Set up golden questions, test sets, and regression tests for evaluation
- Analyze feedback and continuously improve agents
- Communicate technical possibilities and limitations clearly to customers
- Further develop reusable components together with our platform team
The Team
You will work closely with our platform and delivery teams from AI and software engineering as well as consulting. We develop solutions together with our customers – reusable components and insights flow back into our platform.
Qualifications
Must-haves
- Practical experience in GenAI Engineering, ideally at least 1-2 years
- Experience with LLM applications, RAG, Prompt Engineering, Tool Use, and Agent Orchestration
- Very good Python skills at production level
- Experience with the evaluation of GenAI applications, e.g., test sets, golden questions, or regression tests
- Understanding of chunking, retrieval, metadata, and knowledge structures
- Enjoy direct customer contact and the ability to independently structure unclear requirements
- High ownership and pragmatic approach to changing requirements
- Fluent German
For us, built applications count more than certificates. We are particularly interested in looking at personal projects, GitHub repositories, or other work samples.
Nice-to-have
- Energy industry know-how, e.g., market communication, GPKE, EDIFACT, SAP IS-U, or kVASy
- BPMN or comparable process modeling
- GCP, Docker, and CI/CD
- Knowledge Graphs or structured knowledge representation
- Experience from consulting or other customer-oriented technical roles

At Mid-Level, you will take on your own use cases from discovery to go-live. At Senior Level, you will additionally develop standards and blueprints for our agent building, work at the customer leadership level, and help us scale Forward Deployed Engineering within the team.
