Commercial and Risks Director/Manager

The position requires frequent travel both within the company's various offices in Canada and for meetings with clients and partners.


RESPONSABILITIES

  • Supervise, guide, and develop the commercial and risks team of the company, which includes teams responsible for risk management, primary contract management, partnership management, design, administration of major contracts (subcontracting), and project start-up support and procedures;
  • Counsel on the overall commercial strategy at the end of the submission period for the company's portfolio of projects;
  • Pilot the risk management, supervise major contracts, lead strategic partnerships, and ensure project support during their launch phase;
  • Act as a performance lever and guarantee profitability, compliance, and sustainability of commercial activities in a complex and heavily regulated environment;
  • Quickly grasp complex subjects and issue recommendations to senior management.
Risk Management
  • Mastery the risks associated with submissions and execution to actively participate in identifying risks and mitigation plans;
  • Ensure the implementation of risk management plans and policies adapted to submissions and projects in execution;

Primary Contract Management
  • Supervise primary contract negotiations with public and private clients;
  • Guarantee clarity of contractual obligations and protection of the company's interests;
  • Follow up on contract execution and ensure the implementation of a contract management procedure, including links with the company's legal groups;

Partnership and Design Management
  • Foster collaboration with the company's business development resources;
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key partners (competitors, designers, major subcontractors);
  • Ensure successful partnerships at the right moment;

Major Subcontract Administration
  • Supervise contractualization with major subcontractors;
  • Ensure rigorous performance management, obligations, deadlines, and costs;
  • Ensure the implementation of procedures and mechanisms for tracking and evaluating subcontractor performance;

Project Start-up Support
  • Ensure the team participates actively in project launch phases;
  • Guarantee preparation, dissemination, and implementation of operational processes from the start of projects;
  • Provide support to project teams during operational project launches;

Project Management Procedure
  • Define and optimize procedures related to project management;
  • Implement tools for tracking, performance indicators, support, and improvement for project teams and senior management;
  • Guarantee coherence between corporate strategy and operational execution;

Requirements

EXIGENCES

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or law;
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in the construction, design, or major infrastructure project sectors;
  • Experience in team management and multidisciplinary work;
  • Experience in partnership context;
  • Experience with engineering consulting firms;
  • Experience in developing and implementing contract management strategies, risk management, and opportunities;
  • Knowledge of claim issues
  • Better understanding of support functions on major projects;
  • Knowledge of contractual language, change management, and payment modes;
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial issues;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian construction market;
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office;
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
