Organization
Nijmegen: the oldest city in the Netherlands. A lively university town with a rich history. An attractive shopping town with a broad cultural offer, Bourgondisch and hospitable. A beautiful city to live in ... and work.
Job
Since January 1, 2015, the municipality is responsible for providing help to youth and their families. One of the responsibilities is guiding towards the Child Protection Council (RvdK). The goal of the municipality is to prevent as many children as possible from being placed under supervision or foster care.
In the Nijmegen region, a Youth Protection Table (JBT) has been set up. This is a collaboration between several municipalities in the region: Berg en Dal, Beuningen, Druten, Heumen, Mook and Middelaar, Nijmegen, and Wijchen. The JBT was developed to, where concerned help providers worry about the development and/or safety of youth and where the forced framework is being considered, jointly with parents, the child itself (if older than 12 years) and relevant help providers to come up with a suitable tailor-made solution to ensure safety.
We stimulate cooperation between relevant partners. The starting point is to work together with the child and parents to find the most suitable solution. Creative thinking and tailor-made solutions stand central here. We are looking for an independent behavioral scientist who, together with parents and partners like GI and RvdK, reviews casuistics and works together with the JBT to find solutions.
Responsibilities
As a behavioral scientist of the JBT, you are responsible for assessing the quality of Requests for Discussion (VTB). You screen VTBs on content, discuss with the secretary when something gets stuck, and discuss with the core team of the JBT how stakeholders should be prepared for the JBT. You provide input on which partners should be involved; the secretary takes care of sending out invitations.
In the pre-discussion, you prepare the JBT contentually at a case level together with the core team. If additional questions need to be answered before the discussion can take place, you provide those answers. During the discussion at the table, you take an independent, advisory role and bring your behavioral scientific expertise into the discussion as needed for decision-making. You work together with partners like youth protection, municipality, and Child Protection Council, and monitor the quality of decision-making.
You work systemically and pay attention to contact and cooperation with parents and the network. Prior to the JBT, you conduct child interviews with children over 12 years old and ensure that their perspective is taken into account in decision-making.
Competencies
You are open in communication and possess good verbal and written expression skills;
You can methodically act and possess an analytical ability;
You can work together and are critical, driven, and flexible;
