Year 1 Teaching Assistant Darwen

Job Type: Temporary - Full Time (Term Time Only)
Salary: £13.80 - £14.00 per hour

Are you passionate about supporting young learners in their early education journey? We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Year 1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Darwen, East Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the class teacher and help pupils develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

• Support the Year 1 teacher in delivering engaging and structured lessons.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to reinforce key learning concepts.
• Assist with phonics and guided reading sessions (experience highly desirable).
• Promote positive behaviour and maintain an inclusive classroom environment.
• Help with classroom organisation, displays, and preparation of learning materials.

• Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
• Previous experience working in a primary school setting.
• Understanding of child development and effective learning strategies.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
• A patient, positive, and nurturing approach to supporting young learners.

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• First Aid certification.
• Experience supporting early reading and phonics development.

• Temporary, full-time role (term time only).
• Based in a friendly and supportive primary school in Darwen.
