Workshop General Worker

Job description

We are seeking reliable and hardworking Workshop General Workers to assist with the daily operations of a busy workshop in Maitland, Cape Town. The successful candidates will provide general support to artisans, semi-skilled employees and the Workshop Supervisor, assisting with cleaning, handling materials, moving equipment and maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment.

Assist artisans and workshop personnel with general workshop duties.
Assist with the movement, loading and unloading of materials, tools and equipment.
Clean and maintain workshop areas, tools and equipment.
Prepare work areas and equipment for maintenance and repair activities.
Assist with basic workshop tasks under supervision.
Handle tools and materials safely and responsibly.
Assist with dismantling and cleaning components when instructed.
Assist artisans with maintenance and repair activities where required.
Keep work areas clean, tidy and free from hazards.
Dispose of waste and materials correctly according to workplace procedures.
Report damaged tools, equipment, unsafe conditions or hazards to the supervisor.
Follow all occupational health and safety procedures.
Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist with stock movement and handling of workshop materials.
Perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties as required.
Follow instructions from the Workshop Supervisor and senior workshop personnel.
Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Grade 10 minimum; Grade 12 / Matric advantageous.
Previous experience in a workshop, warehouse, construction, engineering, logistics or industrial environment will be advantageous.
Previous general worker experience preferred.
Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.
Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
Ability to work with hand tools will be advantageous.
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions.
Reliable and punctual.
Willingness to learn and assist with various workshop duties.
