At CBS, statistical research forms the basis for all media expressions. The translation agency receives various requests from across the organization. The English-language website plays an important role in disseminating information to non-Dutch speakers.

You will be working on translating and revising content for the CBS website.

You will use translation tools (including MemoQ).

Because you will be working on multiple publications simultaneously, you will learn to make a good plan and experience what it is like to work with deadlines.

You will liaise with clients, an external translation agency, and consult reference material.

This is your internship placement at CBS The Hague

You will join a small team and receive intensive guidance. There will be close collaboration with, among others, the editorial team and colleagues from logistics and planning. In addition, there will be contact with various departments. The translation agency delivers about 40 products per month, including news items, web pages, corporate articles, letters, and presentations.

This is what you bring

You are pursuing a degree to become a translator with English as your specialization, or you have a bachelor's degree in English and are working on a master's degree in Translation Studies.
You have knowledge of and some experience with:

• translation tools (preferably MemoQ);

• professional developments in the field of AI;

• Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat;

• Social media (LinkedIn).

You also follow news and background information in the media.

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your accuracy, communication skills, and initiative. You enjoy working collaboratively, maintain an overview, and can handle various tasks and changes. You are flexible, organized, and ensure that agreements and deadlines are met. Collaboration and results-oriented work are central to this.

Because all communication – both oral and written – during the internship takes place in Dutch, a good command of the Dutch language is necessary.

For your efforts, you will receive an internship allowance of € 800 gross per month (based on 40 hours per week).

Together with your internship supervisor, you will arrange how you can work hybrid, with flexible working hours and the option to work partly from home on your internship assignment.

These are our conditions

This is an internship assignment and not a work experience placement. Before starting the internship, we expect you to have an internship supervisor from your educational institution, with whom the internship has been coordinated and concrete learning objectives have been agreed upon.
This internship assignment is intended for students who are currently enrolled at an educational institution; graduates are not eligible.
