Mechanical Engineering Preparer
Job description
What if you, as a Mechanical Engineering Preparer, play a key role in the sustainability of the E-pier at Schiphol, the most innovative airport in the world? At BAM Bouw en Techniek, you contribute to challenging projects that support a natural gas-free future and a sustainable airport.
Make it possible
As a Mechanical Engineering Preparer, you are the linchpin between design and execution within the E-pier Energy Concept project. You ensure that all installation technology aspects are correct, from preparation to handover. You work on the engineering and replacement of climate control systems (heat pumps and air handling units), heat and cold distribution networks, fittings, and insulation. Your tasks include:
- Drafting, monitoring, and adjusting safety plans, work plans, detailed schedules, and installation technology execution documents (ISSO/NEN frameworks)
- Coordinating permits, drawings (sketch, P&ID, revisions), and technical specifications with the design team
- Aligning with engineers, site managers, and suppliers on installation technology boundary conditions, work methods, and work preparation packages
- Ordering and organizing the logistics of materials and equipment; ensuring delivery reliability and just-in-time phasing
- Identifying bottlenecks (safety, technology, planning, airport logistics) and proactively proposing solutions
- Preparing phasing and work windows in the terminal environment to minimize disruption
- Monitoring quality, safety (VGM), and sustainability within your discipline, including smooth handover to execution
This installation technology project context directly aligns with the E-pier sustainability program and Schiphol's ambition to transition its own buildings away from natural gas by 2030.
Your team
You will work at BAM Bouw en Techniek - Building Services, where we manage and maintain high-quality real estate. Within the E-pier Energy Concept project, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (Building/Electrical/Mechanical) on one of Schiphol's most progressive sustainability projects. The project is an important step towards a natural gas-free airport by 2030.
We offer you
- A salary between € 3,600 and € 5,780 gross per 4 weeks (for 40 hours)
- 25 vacation days + 13 rostered days off
- Reimbursement of your travel costs (100% public transport or mileage allowance)
- Laptop and iPhone to perform your work
- Permanent parking space at Schiphol and a public transport pass for the entire Schiphol site
- Development opportunities through ‘BAM Learning’
- Other courses and training always negotiable
- An average of 40% discount on your gym/sports club subscription and discounts on, among other things, private insurance, Microsoft Office, and a Lease-A-Bike scheme
- A positive and inclusive work culture where you can work flexibly and find a good work-life balance
You recognize yourself in this
You are a structured and communicative Mechanical Engineering Preparer who enjoys working on sustainable and complex projects in a 24/7 airport environment. You can easily switch between different stakeholders and always maintain an overview.
- Minimum MBO+/HBO work and thinking level in the direction of mechanical engineering
- Demonstrable experience as a work preparer in utility construction/installation technology (HVAC, WP/LBK, WKO, distribution networks)
- Affinity with sustainability and energy transition
- Experience working in a complex environment like Schiphol is a pré
- Knowledge of BIM/Lean and digital work methods is a plus
Do you recognize yourself in this? Then we would love to meet you! If you don't recognize yourself in everything, but the role does appeal to you? Then we encourage you to apply. Enthusiasm and the desire to grow are at least as important to us as a complete list of diplomas and certificates.
