Job description

Our clients are using AI agents in their daily operations. They are checking invoices, categorizing requests, and preparing decisions. Not in pitch decks, but productively, in the German Mittelstand.

This is the good part. But we are not good at talking about it. Our website tells too little about it, and most of the projects we have completed exist nowhere as text.

We are looking for the person who will change that. Not more channels, not more reach, but better words for good work.

Who you will write for

Managing directors, department heads, and plant managers of medium-sized companies: mechanical engineering, insurance, logistics, retail. They have heard a lot about AI and seen little that works in everyday life. They don't read English buzzwords and they only have five minutes.

Writing for these people is a discipline in itself. One wrong tone, and the text is gone. This is exactly what this role is about: occupying the mind of someone who works completely differently than you, and then writing in their words, not ours.

Tasks

Writing Cases. The core of the role. You talk to the colleagues who built a project, sometimes also with the client, and turn it into a story that a stranger can understand in four minutes: What was the problem, what did we build, what has changed since then. The material is there. It just hasn't been written down by anyone yet.

Writing the Website. Our site is currently being rebuilt. Others are handling the structure and technology. You will handle the words: homepage, service pages, cases, career page. You will also maintain them yourself in the CMS afterward; you will learn that in an afternoon.

Revising Existing Content. Pitch decks, newsletters, lead magnets, LinkedIn posts, presentation materials. Much of this is factually correct and linguistically too long, too vague, or told too much from our perspective. You will go through it and make it better.

Writing what is in our channels. Newsletters, webinars, LinkedIn, and our inbox are the places where your texts reach real people. You don't operate the tools, you deliver the content: the script for a webinar, the newsletter text, the response templates we use to react to incoming inquiries. Distribution, timing, and data maintenance in HubSpot and HeyReach are handled elsewhere – unless you want to learn it.

For this, you will get access to our LinkedIn inbox and recordings of real customer conversations. Not as a sales task, but as a source of material: there, you will find out how our customers talk about their problems. Exactly these words should go into our texts.

Optional is the visualization of your work in the form of presentations, Canva designs, or websites.

How we will see that it is working after three months

  • Four cases are live + sales is actually sending them to interested parties.
  • The new website texts are in place and sound like us and our work.
  • Someone from the team sends you their text to read beforehand because it is better afterward.

Qualifications

  • You are enrolled in university. We don't care about your major.
  • You write German at a native-speaker level. Not just error-free, but good: rhythm, conciseness, the right tone for the respective reader.
  • You can put yourself in the shoes of your target audience when writing.
  • You have already written something that others have read. Student newspaper, newsletter, the Instagram channel of a club, a blog that has been around for two years.
  • You are in Berlin or are moving here. We work hybrid, we see each other on Wednesdays.

What you don't need

No degree in marketing or communication. No agency experience. No portfolio. No design or programming skills, no SEO certificates, no experience with AI tools. What a language model can do and where it talks nonsense, you will learn here in the first week, on real work instead of in a course.

You also don't need experience with Mittelstand customers. But you should be curious about them.

You fit with us if

  • ... a bad sentence physically bothers you and you rewrite it instead of discussing it.
  • ... you can get excited about topics that nobody talks about on LinkedIn: claims processing, spare parts logistics, offer calculation, and how AI is changing them.
  • ... you prefer to ask five questions before you start rather than explaining afterward what was meant.
  • ... you submit a text when it is good, not just when it is perfect.

This role is not for you if

  • ... you want to build editorial plans, channel strategies, and reports. That is not the work here.
  • ... you want to write for the startup and tech bubble. Our readers are in companies that have existed for forty years.
  • ... you only want to write about what you find exciting yourself.
  • ... you read feedback on your text as criticism of yourself. Every text is touched here, even the founder's.

Benefits

Your words go live. What you write will be on the website or on a client's desk a few days later. No approval chain, no marketing department above you.

Proximity to real customers. You don't write about a persona. You listen to the people you write for and then use their words instead of ours.

AI-native writing before everyone else can. You work with Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor on real work and learn the part that is harder than prompting: recognizing when a text sounds like a machine and bringing it back. Most of your fellow students will learn this in their first job after graduation. Or not.

A counterpart. You will receive feedback on your texts, weekly and in detail. This is the reason why this role offers more than a working student job in a large marketing department.

The setting. Office in EDGE Coworking at the main train station, team day on Wednesdays, you manage the rest yourself. Reduce during exam periods, increase during semester breaks.

Perspective. For us, working students are not a cheap additional capacity, but the pipeline for permanent roles. If it fits, there is a realistic perspective with us after graduation.

Lucid Labs is an AI-first studio for applied AI in the German Mittelstand. We not only advise on the selection of use cases, but we also build and operate solutions that run productively in real processes. From idea to pilot at the customer's site, it takes us about a week. Founder Marek Janetzke previously helped build Flightright and accompanied it to a successful exit.

Our culture in one sentence: Think along instead of just working through. Plain text instead of buzzwords. Implement instead of slide battles.

Application

Step 1. CV, no cover letter. Along with two things:

  1. A text from you that already exists. No matter where from, no matter how old.
  2. A small task, around twenty minutes: Go to our website, find a paragraph that you don't like, and rewrite it so that a managing director from mechanical engineering can understand it in thirty seconds. Briefly explain why.

The task counts more for us than the CV.

Step 2. Conversation with the team, 30 minutes.
Step 3. Conversation with the founder - deeper and more focused on your background
Step 4. Work sample based on a real task
Step 5. Get to know the team, feel free to visit the office

Step 4 is with the team.

We look forward to hearing from you.
