Working Student: Legal

Full Time Entry Level

Job description

Via uses innovative technologies to revolutionize transportation worldwide. From changing an individual's daily commute to reducing humanity's collective ecological footprint – we have big goals.

As a Working Student in the Legal field, you will be an important part of our dynamic, global legal team, working closely with a team of highly dedicated lawyers in Europe, Israel, and New York. You will help us further expand our business in Europe and launch new projects. With the support of a mentor, you will get to know the multifaceted tasks of a company lawyer and at the same time gain unique insights into the legal department of a rapidly growing scale-up.

This is a traineeship as part of legal clerkship with a minimum duration of 6 months, ideally starting in September 2026. The position is based in Berlin, with a hybrid work model.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support in business-critical contractual matters:
    • Review and coordination of contract finalization (e.g., NDAs, SaaS agreements, supplier contracts, lease agreements), ensuring accuracy and identifying key risks
    • Support in maintaining and organizing contract databases and templates
  • Support in managing key regulatory and compliance issues:
    • Conducting legal and regulatory research in areas relevant to Via, including transport network services, the gig economy, insurance, open-source data, and data protection law
    • Monitoring compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws by reviewing data processing agreements (DPAs) with suppliers and partners
    • Supporting Via's internal compliance and corporate governance
  • Driving efficiency and process improvements:
    • Building knowledge of internal databases and systems to derive insights from data for business decisions
    • Developing and implementing measures to increase the efficiency of the legal team through ticketing systems, document management and filing systems, and KPI tracking
    • Leading support in the continuous maintenance and improvement of forms, processes, and systems
    • Supporting the further development of legal processes to increase scalability and efficiency
    • Administrative support and involvement in special projects as needed

Your Profile:

  • You are currently in legal clerkship and are eligible to complete a traineeship in an in-house legal department
  • Previous experience with or interest in tech, data protection, or regulatory law; knowledge of GDPR is a plus
  • Proficient in using internal systems and data – you can derive insights from databases for business decisions
  • Clear and precise communication, both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts understandably to non-legal stakeholders
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Proactive and eager to learn – you take initiative and gain energy from the versatility of an in-house legal role in a fast-growing company
  • Fluent in English and German; additional language skills are a plus

What We Offer:

  • A role with real impact: Via's technology moves millions of people worldwide every day – and you'll ensure that the team behind it functions smoothly.
  • Salary: €20 per hour
  • Hybrid working in a beautiful office in the heart of Berlin at Chausseestraße, with weekly team lunches and shared breakfast – and a team you should get to know
  • Urban Sports Club membership

At Via, we develop technologies that change mobility for the better worldwide. Our focus is on transit tech, as we are convinced that the future of transportation lies in shared, dynamic, and public mobility. Our approach reduces carbon emissions in congested cities, decreases reliance on private cars, and enables everyone to access efficient and affordable means of transportation.

Ready for the ride?

We value diversity and welcome all applications regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, disability, age, and sexual orientation and identity
