Job description

Not a classic working student job:

You will build a new team with us, from the first customer conversation to ongoing operations.

Your start at msp AG

We are a Hamburg-based software company for process consulting, system integration, and development in the retail sector. Customers such as REWE, EDEKA, hagebau, Vitra, and JAKO AG are digitizing their marketing and product processes with us.

We ensure that retailers and brands have their product data and images under control: once cleanly maintained, correctly displayed everywhere, from the online shop to brochures. For this, we are currently building a new team in our MarTech department.

Instead of working on tasks that otherwise remain undone, you will work as a fully-fledged member of the team. You will contribute to solutions, implement them yourself, and be on-site with the customer. And you will accompany the entire process: you will be there when we win new customers, plan and implement their projects, and then support them in ongoing operations.

You will learn what your studies don't teach you: how to lead projects, advise customers, and see solutions through to completion. In return, you will bring fresh ideas from university and your academic environment. We are curious about that.

To be honest: Much in our new team is not yet finished. Processes, templates, and the way we collaborate are currently being developed. Those who join here will get their hands dirty and shape things.

Your tasks

  • Project management: You will plan and manage customer projects together with our project management and keep an eye on progress, efforts, and deadlines.

  • Implementation with AI: You will implement yourself within the system: you will configure solutions and build prototypes, AI-supported and with code where necessary.

  • Building the team: You will help build templates and project structures for our growing team.

  • Requirements: You will be involved in requirements management: gathering, documenting, and prioritizing requirements.

  • Data concepts: You will contribute to data concepts: what product data our customers manage, how it is structured, and who maintains it.

  • Customer appointments & workshops: You will prepare customer appointments and workshops and document results and decisions comprehensibly.

  • Collaboration: You will work with our product development, sales, and marketing teams.

What you bring

  • Studies: You are studying with good grades, ideally at the Master's level, preferably with an IT or business focus such as Business Informatics or Industrial Engineering. Initial practical experience from internships, jobs, or personal projects would be an advantage.

  • Enthusiasm for AI: You try out new AI tools before anyone asks, and you want to find out how to work faster and better with them.

  • Hands-on implementation: You don't just want to understand how systems and data structures work together, but want to get hands-on: configure, experiment, sometimes write code, and test your results with the customer. Initial programming experience is a plus.

  • Get involved: You are motivated by building things that are not yet finished, rather than managing existing ones. Open questions motivate you rather than holding you back.

  • Customer contact: You enjoy approaching people and are not afraid of customer conversations. You express yourself clearly, both verbally and in writing, in German and English.

  • Analytical thinking: You break down complex issues and recognize which question needs to be clarified first. You are not afraid to rethink and design data structures.

  • Commitment: You keep your promises and deadlines, and you report early if something is about to change.

What we offer you

  • Responsibility with support: As a fully-fledged team member, you will take on your own topics and customer tasks. You will work closely with your project management and learn directly in ongoing customer projects.

  • The big picture: Sales, project, and customer support in one role, instead of just a small part in one department.

  • Real business world: Alongside your studies, you will experience how customer projects really run: with real customers, real budgets, and real decisions.

  • Scope for design: You will be involved early in a new team and help shape how it works.

  • Perspective: We are not looking for just one semester, but thinking beyond your studies.

  • Tools: AI-supported work is part of our daily routine, not a pilot project.

  • Flexibility: 16-20 hours/week, mobile working, and consideration for your exam periods.

  • Contract details: Contract duration and probation period flexible by agreement.

  • Workplace: Modern offices in the heart of Hamburg with a MacBook, ergonomic workstation, fruit, drinks, foosball, and darts. Good S-Bahn connection and parking spaces.

Become part of our team and shape the digital future of our customers with us.

We look forward to hearing from you.
