Working Student: Communication & Marketing (m/f/d)

The Mediengründerzentrum NRW (MGZ) is the central point of contact for aspiring media entrepreneurs in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2006, we have been supporting creative founders in realizing their business ideas and successfully establishing themselves on the market. With diverse funding programs, an annual scholarship and a wide range of events, workshops and networking events, we strengthen young media professionals in NRW. We have supported, networked and accompanied more than 220 scholarship holders in recent years – many of them are still successfully represented in the media industry today with strong companies, innovative projects and award-winning productions. Our shareholders are the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the City of Cologne.

We are looking for a creative and committed working student for our communication & public relations work at the earliest possible date.

Tasks

Social Media

• Concept & creation of content for Instagram & LinkedIn (posts, carousels, stories, reels)
• Production and editing of short videos (reels, event clips, interview snippets) including subtitles & basic cuts
• Design of graphics, templates & photo collages (especially in Canva) in the MGZ look
• Creative idea development for new formats, categories, story approaches and visual hooks

Content & Editorial

• Collaboration on our newsletter (Mailchimp): Layout, formatting, image selection, link check, test dispatch
• Maintenance of our press, partner and event distributors as well as filing/asset management
• Research on the media industry, founders, alumni, trends, events & tools
• Updating our website (dates, news, program information)

Qualification

You don't have to be perfect at everything – what's more important to us is that you enjoy social media, content and digital communication. If you find yourself in some of these points, you've come to the right place:

• Secure and experienced social media affinity, especially for Instagram and/or LinkedIn
• Creativity & basics in content handling – e.g. Canva, simple video edits, photo editing or creating reels
• First experience in WordPress & website maintenance
• Reliable, independent way of working with a desire to try things out, make suggestions and take responsibility
• Open, team-oriented communication and a pragmatic "hands-on" mentality
• Interest in the media, start-up or creative scene in NRW/Cologne
