Job description

palmerhargreaves is the agency for complex issues and transformation tasks. Owner-managed and internationally present, we use the power of creativity, relationships, and technologies to generate resonance for brands and people. Like no other agency, palmerhargreaves already leverages all possibilities of generative AI today to make its clients' communication even more efficient and effective. The agency employs over 100 employees from 12 nations. Clients include world-renowned brands such as Audi, Bayer, Deutsche Telekom, Ford, Henkel, and SAP.

Tasks

If someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews about a brand, the answer decides whether that brand appears at all – and whether what is said about it is true. We analyze this for corporations: across more than five AI systems, hundreds of questions, several measurement waves per year. From these raw data, we derive figures upon which we base recommendations and our clients base decisions.

This is exactly where your role comes in. You will support the construction and maintenance of the data layer beneath it: importing, validating, enriching, and making it evaluable.

Your tasks:

  • You will develop scripts that read, normalize, and check GEO measurement raw data for completeness (JavaScript/Node.js, Python).
  • You will connect APIs – search data, AI systems, external data, internal tools, MCP – including error handling and rate limits.
  • You will work within our Google Cloud stack: BigQuery for data storage, Looker Studio for dashboards, Cloud Functions for everything that needs to run automatically.
  • You will automate quality checks. The guiding question behind this: Does an inconsistent measurement run get noticed before it lands in the customer report?
  • You will check structured data on the client side (schema.org, JSON-LD, Knowledge Graph entries) and document where it deviates from reality.
  • You will document what you build so that it can continue to run without you.

Qualifications

What you ideally bring with you:

  • You enjoy working with data, interrelationships, automations, and the latest LLMs.
  • You are studying Computer Science, Media Informatics, Business Informatics, Data Science, Software Engineering, or something comparable (Bachelor's or Master's).
  • You develop in JavaScript or Python, know REST APIs, and have already transferred data from an external source into your own structure.
  • You have at least a basic understanding of SQL, and you work with Git as a matter of course.
  • Experience with Google Cloud, BigQuery, or Looker Studio is a plus – you will also learn this on the job with us.
  • You work carefully and precisely. You will see data from corporate projects here, some before their publication. An error in line 400 would otherwise end up in a board presentation.
  • You are eager to tackle a topic for which there are no textbooks yet. GEO is a new discipline, and we are currently defining a good part of the methodology ourselves.
  • Very good German and English skills.

You don't have to meet all requirements – your motivation and willingness to learn are more important to us!

Benefits

  • Remote-Flexi-Freedom: Whether somewhere in Germany or in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, whether particularly early or a bit later – you have a say in where and when you work.
  • Sabbatical | Workation: If you get a serious case of wanderlust, you can go on a workation anywhere in Europe. Want something a bit more? Take a sabbatical.
  • Holiday Paradise: We offer 30 days of vacation + 2 bonus days + special leave.
  • Inner Values: We stick together and show appreciation. Open-hearted & open-minded – that's us in our jobs, during mentoring, at team events, and in our social commitment.
  • Growth Booster: We support you in our in-house agency academy, through regular development talks, and you also get up to 5 further training days per year.
  • Beginner Support: From an onboarding buddy to a mentor and extensive onboarding modules – we won't leave you alone at the start.
  • Body Booster: Back training, fitness, eye test, company doctor – because your health matters!
  • DogApproved: Dogs make you happy. Therefore, they are allowed by arrangement.
  • Future-Proof: With our company pension scheme, you can look to the future with peace of mind.
  • Corporate Benefits: Benefit from a variety of shopping and travel advantages even outside of work.

If you meet three out of eight requirements and the rest appeal to you, apply. Send us something you've built – repo, script, university project, no matter how small. That tells us more than any cover letter.

We look forward to your application.
