Job description

NILS Software GmbH makes CO₂ balances and climate strategies for the housing industry easy – even without an extensive own data set. With our software co2pilot, we enable small and medium-sized housing companies, cooperatives, and municipal housing developers to create a reliable CO₂ balance of their portfolio and develop scenario-based climate paths.

What distinguishes us as an employer:

  • Meaningful Work: You make a measurable contribution to the decarbonization of the building sector – one of the biggest levers in the fight against climate change.
  • Partnership & Family-like: We work on an equal footing – internally and with our customers. Flat hierarchies, short paths, direct contact with management.
  • Startup with Substance: Founded in 2023, with strong partners (including VNW, Initiative Wohnen.2050, Vodafone) and a multidisciplinary team from software development, energy engineering, and data science.
  • You shape the future: With us, you are not just a working student. You are involved in two central areas, new customer acquisition and support of existing customers, and you see directly what your contribution achieves.

Tasks

As a Working Student: Customer Success & Sales, you are active on two fronts: You help us win new customers from the housing industry for co2pilot, and you ensure that existing customers get along well with our software and remain satisfied in the long term.

  • Prepare customer outreach: You research potential customers (housing cooperatives, municipal housing companies) and prepare individual initial outreach via email.
  • Support onboarding: You assist new customers in getting started with co2pilot, from initial setup to first questions in daily operations.
  • Keep an eye on customers: You maintain our CRM, document contact history, and recognize early on when a customer needs support or a lead is about to fall through the cracks.
  • Coordinate appointments: You schedule demo appointments, initial meetings, check-ins with existing customers, and coordinate calendars between us and our contacts.
  • Answer questions: You answer simpler customer inquiries directly or forward them to the right person in the team.
  • Follow-up & Nurturing: You prepare follow-up tasks, both in sales and with existing customers, and support the team in resuming conversations at the right time.
  • Prepare materials: You help adapt sales materials, onboarding guides, and mailings for specific situations.
  • Interface with Marketing: You identify which content works well in sales and customer day-to-day operations and pass this feedback on to the marketing team.

Qualifications

This is what you should bring:

  • You are a enrolled student, ideally in a business, communications, or sustainability-related field of study (Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Sustainability Management, Communication Studies, or similar).
  • You communicate confidently and friendly – in writing and on the phone – and can adapt to different conversation partners, from the board of a traditional cooperative to the sustainability manager.
  • You have a good feel for what customers need and are eager not only to win new customers but also to satisfy existing customers in the long term.
  • You work in a structured, careful manner and can keep an overview even with multiple parallel processes.
  • You are proficient with MS Office (especially Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with a CRM system (e.g., HubSpot) is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • You are interested in topics such as sustainability, climate strategy, and the real estate industry – or are willing to quickly familiarize yourself with them.
  • Native-level German (C2), good-level English. Ideally, you can support us 15–20 hours per week, preferably long-term over several semesters.

Benefits

Fair compensation and flexible working hours that adapt to your lectures.

Hybrid Work: You can work largely remotely – with the option to visit our location in Bad Oldesloe regularly.

Responsibility from Day One: Not just supporting work, but your own topics to grow with.

Direct Line to Management: You work closely with our CEO Rafael Sporysz and gain deep insights into the sales and strategy of a growing climate tech company.

Learning at the Forefront of a Future Market: You will experience firsthand how ESG, CO₂ balancing, and climate strategy work in practice – knowledge that will be in demand in almost every industry in the coming years.

Real Team: We are a small, motivated team that places great value on reliability, mutual support, and good teamwork.

Perspective: With mutual interest, there is the possibility of transitioning to permanent employment after graduation.

We look forward to your application!
