Job description
Our Mission
We enable former pig farmers to grow vegetables in otherwise vacant pigstalls. In the isolated stalls, farmers control the growing conditions like temperature and light. As a result, they produce independently of weather, seasons, and climate change.
Indoor Farming – as this type of farming is called in isolated rooms – has not played a major role in Germany so far due to lack of profitability. We're changing that: Together with our farmers, we establish Indoor Farming. With our efficient products and the use of renewable energies on the farms, our farmers produce and sell vegetables at market prices profitably.
Our Products
Our offer to farmers is a whole business field: Our products range from growing to marketing. This includes Indoor Farming facilities, material trading, and marketing concepts.
Our Impact
We enable over 1,000 farmers to give up pig farming annually, creating a new economically viable business field. At the same time, we strengthen local food supply, as currently 63% of vegetables are imported. We stand for less farm deaths and a more resilient food supply in Germany.
Tasks
Initial Situation
The Reedläker farm in Borken (Westf.) has been operating Indoor Farming since 2025. In the former pigsty, vegetables are grown year-round to top quality. The plants are locally marketed in six supermarkets and one wholesale market. Stefan, the farmer, personally delivers the produce twice a week.
Your Impact
Things are going well at Reedläker farm, but there's still more:
- Sales promotion in the markets
- Optimization of logistics
- BUILDING A STRONG LOCAL BRAND
- Introduction of additional products
- ...
Your task will be to elevate these potentials. The focus lies on marketing, logistics, and operations, but all three are important.
Your work ultimately helps not just the Reedläker farm. This is actually a blueprint for all other farms of Stallgrün. The Reedläker farm is the home base of our co-founder – everything that's used elsewhere has its origin here.
Collaboration
You will work independently. Mainly, you'll be working with Stefan, the farmer from Reedläker farm, and Thorsten, the co-founder and CEO of Stallgrün.
In Short
You'll be working independently to develop the business field of Reedläker farm on behalf of all farmers of Stallgrün.
Qualification
We're looking for entrepreneurs. You should enjoy building something and working strategically as well as operationally.
Please bring the following skills:
- Strategic thinking
- Learner's mindset
- Collaboration skills with colleagues, partners, and customers
Workplace
You'll be able to work most of the time at your own discretion in a home office or our office in Münster. Occasionally, you'll be on the Reedläker farm in Borken (Westf.). The commute from Münster will be shared with other employees of Stallgrün. Travel expenses will be reimbursed and travel time counts as working hours.
Perspective
The position is advertised as a work-study position, but other employment arrangements are also possible. We value our employees' career opportunities in our start-up. Therefore, we support mid-term changes to a full-time position.
We look forward to your application 🪴
