Working Student at CORRECTIV.Exile

Do you want to advocate for press freedom and an enlightened society and have an interest in international and intercultural journalistic cooperation? Then use your editorial skills for CORRECTIV.Exile.

CORRECTIV.Exile supports journalists in exile and creates platforms for their voices and their work. A central part of this is editorial and media cooperation: We accompany exiled journalists with their research, support them with fact-checking, and with preparing their stories for a German-speaking audience.

For this special work, we are looking for a working student from October 1, 2026, initially for a limited period of one year (with the prospect of extension), who will work editorially and medially with our Exile community. The weekly working hours are 15 to 20 hours per week (max. 80 per month).

• You will support exiled journalists in the editorial preparation, research, and fact-checking of their contributions.
• You will help with the translation and linguistic editing of texts from English to German, ensuring journalistic and stylistic quality.
• You will independently research topics related to press freedom, exile journalism, and the work of the community.
• You will assist in the verification of sources, data, and facts for publications.
• You will contribute to the preparation and follow-up of talk formats, workshops, and other events and support their on-site implementation (1-2 evenings per month, in Berlin).
• You will be in close communication with the exile media community to understand their journalistic concerns and needs and to provide editorial support.

• You are enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences (valid enrollment certificate).
• You have fluent German skills in speaking and writing as well as very good English skills (min. C1); other foreign languages are always an asset.
• You have initial practical experience in journalism or editorial work – e.g., through internships, traineeships, freelance work, university newspaper, or your own publications (e.g., articles, research, reports, etc.).
• You have initial experience with or a strong interest in fact-checking and journalistic verification work.
• You work cleanly and precisely, with a good sense for journalistic diligence and source criticism.
• You are interculturally sensitive and interested in working with exile media communities.
• You are motivated to actively shape the goals of CORRECTIV.Exile and to advocate for press freedom.

• A motivated, international team with short decision-making paths, looking forward to you and your support.
• The opportunity to proactively contribute yourself and your ideas to a socially relevant project and actively participate in press freedom and democracy.
• A salary between 16 and 20 Euros/hour – depending on your prior experience.
• The opportunity to largely arrange your working hours flexibly, to suit your studies and your needs – home office is partially possible by arrangement.
