Working Student (m/f/d) Vulnerability Management: From SBOM to Decision

About Us

Langlauf Security Automation GmbH, based in Lippstadt, identifies which open-source and

third-party components are contained within fully compiled software. We do not require source code for this.

From these findings, we generate a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM). We then compare this

with vulnerability databases. The end result is a report on the known vulnerabilities of the software.

Tasks

Your Tasks

You will start with two projects:

1. Reliably assigning components to their vulnerabilities. Each component has identifiers according to PURL or CPE standards. You will improve how we find the corresponding vulnerabilities using these identifiers. You will work with Python, Dependency-Track, and the vulnerability databases NVD and OSV. Goal: Minimizing overlooked vulnerabilities and false positives.

2. Vulnerability reports that are helpful in daily work. You will develop a concept for our reports. Who reads them? What content and format are most useful to each target group?

Qualifications

What You Bring With You

• You are studying computer science or a related field.
• You like the programming language Python.
• You are interested in software security and vulnerability management. Knowledge of SBOMs, CVEs, or Dependency-Track is a plus, but not a requirement.
• You work independently and ask for help when you get stuck.
• You speak and write German at C2 level. Your explanations and arguments are clear and understandable, even on very technical and complex subjects.
• You have at least 15 hours per week available.
