Master Craftsman: Refrigeration Technology

• Full-time (40 hrs/week)
• Klosterneuburg near Vienna, Austria
• € 3,500* gross/month

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Plumbing (HVAC) department ensures the reliable operation of the technical infrastructure of our international research campus. In this responsible position, you will contribute your expertise in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology and play a central role in the maintenance, optimization, and further development of our technically demanding systems. Together with your team, you will make a significant contribution to uninterrupted research operations.

• Independent installation, commissioning, and optimization of refrigeration, air conditioning, and cold water systems
• Maintenance, inspection, and repair of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems (e.g., cascade systems, chiller units, process cooling)
• Analysis and resolution of complex faults, including troubleshooting of electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues
• Support of systems with natural and synthetic refrigerants (e.g., NH₃, CO₂, HFCs)
• Performance of leak detection, leak searching, and documentation according to the Chemical Climate Protection Ordinance
• Parameterization and testing of measurement, control, and regulation systems
• Creation of technical documentation and test reports, as well as accompanying system acceptance
• Ensuring compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental standards
• Technical participation in modernization, expansion, and optimization projects on campus

• Completed training as a Master Craftsman in Refrigeration System Technology, Mechatronics for Refrigeration Technology, or equivalent technical training
• Several years of professional experience in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology desirable
• Valid refrigerant license according to the Austrian Chemical Climate Protection Ordinance
• Sound knowledge in refrigeration and air conditioning technology, thermodynamics, and ideally in electrical and control engineering
• Understanding of hydraulic systems, heat exchangers, and modern building technology
• Driver's license class B
• Very good German skills, good English skills (the institute's language is English) – we support you with internal language courses
• Training as a fire safety warden or fire safety officer desirable
• Independent, structured, and solution-oriented way of working
