Infrastructure Inspector

Job description

We are looking for an experienced inspector to join our team for various projects in East and West Flanders.

As an infrastructure inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring diverse civil engineering and private projects. Together with your colleagues, you will follow up on regional projects, where you will have a direct impact on the cities and communities of the future.   • You will monitor various construction sites and organize weekly site meetings and coordination meetings.
  • The availability on the construction site and the execution of essential parts of the work are crucial.

A written report and photos of the construction site, as well as reporting to the leading engineer, are also part of your responsibilities.

  • You will follow up on and report on the methods used by the contractor for executing the works, particularly with regard to care and attention in execution, etc.;
  • You will report any identified shortcomings or defects to the leading engineer;
  • You will have project leadership, communicate with the client and contractors;
  • You will coordinate the work of utility companies;
  • You will attend all meetings with management, clients, contractors, and possibly residents regarding your project.
  • You will ensure that measures are taken to minimize hindrances for neighbors;
  • You will review the route of the works, elevation profiles, etc.;
  • You will ensure that the rules applicable to the project are followed;
  • You will control and report on the execution of tests in situ;
  • You will control the execution of the work based on contract documents and approved execution documents;
  • You will ensure that all agreements regarding land acquisition are followed;
  • You will review the as-built documentation prepared by the contractor;
  • You will report on safety measures at the construction site;
  • You will verify the accuracy of the quantities recorded in the monthly progress reports;
  • You will follow up and report on the disposal of materials, suitable or not for reuse, and the handling of soil and materials.

You will establish and record any unknown existing pipes and/or underground structures, masses, poor soils, etc.;

  • You will record changes made during the works, including additional work, etc.;
  • You will maintain quality records regarding a priori and a posteriori;
  • You will ensure that safety regulations from the safety documents (safety and health plan, coordination logbook, post-intervention file, coordination structure, etc.) and instructions from the safety coordinator are followed;
  • You will keep a detailed diary of the works and present it to the contractor or their representative for signature, as well as maintaining records of working days, progress of works in relation to the execution period, and possibly adding comments and findings.

Regarding incoming control:

  • You will inspect the delivery of products and required quality marks;
  • You will inspect how materials are stored on the construction site or elsewhere;
  • You will monitor the execution of testing procedures for materials;
  • You will follow up on realized works in accordance with the specifications and possibly a supplementary testing plan.

Regarding registration:

  • You will be responsible for site administration;
  • You will keep records of delivery notes for materials brought to the construction site;
  • You will keep records of weighing notes;
  • You will maintain and sign off on the diary of works, as well as maintaining records of working days and leave days;
  • You will maintain records of inspection certificates;
  • You will maintain a list of tests;
  • You will maintain records of site reports;
  • You will maintain a plan list;
  • You will control the presence of safety documents.

Diplomas and/or work experience

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or land surveying with at least 5 years of experience;
  • A2 diploma in civil engineering with at least 5 years of experience;
  • 10 years of experience with infrastructure works.

Knowledge

  • You have knowledge of the Public Procurement Act or are willing to quickly acquire it.
  • You have knowledge of SB250 and SB260.
  • You are creative, proactive, solution-oriented, and can communicate well;
  • You work well in a team and colleagues can always rely on you;
  • You have Word and Excel under your belt;
  • Knowledge of Autocad (Civil 3D) is an asset.
  • You have good command of the Dutch language;
  • You are willing to continuously update your knowledge;
  • You are positively inclined, customer-friendly, and respect deadlines;
  • You have a smartphone at your disposal, so you are always available.
