Salary $75,000-$85,000

Geelong Trailer Sales manufacture, sell and repair trailers. We have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality, durable, and custom-built trailers that cater to a broad range of needs, from industrial applications to personal use. We are looking for a welder to join our team.

Welder Job Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to identify material specifications, dimensions, and welding requirements
  • Prepare metal components by cutting, grinding, or shaping using hand and power tools (angle grinders, plasma cutters).
  • Perform high-quality welding (typically MIG, TIG, and Arc welding) on steel and aluminium used in trailer chassis, frames, suspensions, and other components.
  • Operate welding equipment to join metal sections, ensuring the welds are strong, consistent, and meet the necessary specifications
  • Measure welds to ensure they meet the required specifications for size and strength, ensuring the project’s quality
  • Use grinders, files, and chisels to remove any slag, spatter, or excess material from welded joints
  • Assemble trailer structures and sub-assemblies according to layout specifications and engineering instructions.
  • Apply sanding or polishing techniques to smooth the welds, improving both appearance and durability
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspection results
  • Collaborate closely with fabricators, and other team members to meet project goals and deadlines
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety
  • Staying updated on new welding technologies, techniques, and industry best practices to enhance skills and productivity
  • Training new welders and apprentices, sharing expertise and best practices.

Skills, Qualification and experience required

  • Proficient in using welding machines
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Certificate III in Fabrication Trade or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role
