Role Purpose

To carry out professional wall and floor tiling services including surface preparation, layout planning, tile installation, grouting, and finishing to ensure durable, high-quality outcomes that meet project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to determine tile layout and material requirements.
2. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, waterproofing, and repairing substrates as needed.
3. Cut, shape, and install wall and floor tiles using hand and power tools.
4. Mix adhesives, mortars, and grout in correct proportions for various materials.
5. Ensure accurate alignment, spacing, and pattern placement for all tiling work.
6. Apply grout, sealants, and finishing products to achieve high-quality final results.
7. Install specialty materials such as mosaics, large-format tiles, stone, and porcelain where required.
8. Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with Australian Standards and client requirements.
9. Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe working environment at all job sites.
10. Liaise with builders, contractors, and clients to confirm requirements and address issues.
11. Estimate material quantities and assist with procurement and inventory management.
12. Identify and resolve onsite problems related to alignment, substrate issues, or structural variations.
13. Follow WHS practices and contribute to risk management on all projects.
14. Work efficiently to meet project deadlines without compromising workmanship.
15. Provide guidance to apprentices or assistants when required.

What We’re Looking For

1. Minimum 1 year of experience in wall and floor tiling or a closely related trade.
2. Relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling or equivalent skills/experience.
3. Strong practical skills in surface prep, tile cutting, installation, and finishing.
4. Ability to read plans, follow specifications, and work independently with accuracy.
5. High attention to detail, good problem-solving ability, and reliability on site.
