Introduction

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training in ICT, Mechatronics, or GROP at level 2? ICT is one of the most challenging fields of work today, especially within Defense. What you will do

The Signals Service provides mobile ICT for the operational units of the Army. Think of computer networks, satellite and radio connections, which can be deployed anywhere in the world during exercises and missions.

As a Soldier Signals (ICT)/ Driver, you will work with the Signals Service of the Royal Netherlands Army. This unit installs, operates, and maintains all Communication and Information Systems. This includes computer networks, telephony, radio, and satellite communication. Furthermore, they are responsible for Cybersecurity within the Army. Your work is extremely diverse. If you enjoy working with mobile ICT, then the Signals Service is for you! One moment you are working on a radio connection, and the next moment you ensure a good satellite connection or man the front office and help users with their computer problems. As a Signals Service enlisted soldier, you will accompany the various units of the Army and ensure that they can always exchange information everywhere via computer, radio, and/or satellite systems. Of course, you will also take care of your basic military skills and physical condition.

The Signals Service has two main directions:

1. Networks; installing, operating, and maintaining computer networks that together form the Wide Area Network (WAN);
2. CIS Ops; installing, operating, and maintaining various radio and satellite systems.

After your training, you will be assigned to a specific role, such as CIS Operator Radio/Driver.

Please note: There are multiple recruitment dates (start dates) throughout the year. The recruitment date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Assessment, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at a unit of the 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, the 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte, the 101 CIS Battalion of the Operational Support Command Land in Stroe/Garderen or Eibergen, or at the headquarters of the 1st German-/Netherlands Corps in Münster, Germany.

After entering service, you will first complete the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Oirschot or Assen. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Signals Service School in Amersfoort. If you do not yet have a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driving training at the Driving Training and Education Center in Oirschot. The training will last approximately 10 months in total.

As a Military, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like every Military person, you may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow with you. In addition to your salary, as a military person, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The salaries mentioned on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will build up an annual (gross) recruitment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

Your profile We will train you Your career

As a Soldier Signals Service (ICT) and Driver, you have a dual role. You will alternate driving with your ICT work.

After a few roles, you can become a Corporal. You will then receive more and more responsibilities.
