Have you (almost) completed your VeVa education level 2? Do you have a passion for food and drink and also want an adventurous job? As a Soldier Military Cook in the Army, you work with mobile kitchens that are transported to different locations on the back of a truck. On paved and unpaved roads and terrain. What you will do

As a Soldier Military Cook, you operate your own Mobile Satellite Kitchen (MSK) and prepare food for up to 250 people. You are also responsible for the maintenance of the MSK, the kitchen equipment, and the tools. You also keep a close eye on hygiene.

Do you want to grow further within the military kitchen after this? Then the Army offers you an MBO 2 training in Bruges. After this, you can work in the 'Food Preparation Container' or the 'High Mobility Container Kitchen'. These are both mobile kitchens, with which we can cook for our colleagues all over the world. You also take care of the process of receiving and issuing food every day. So you also have tasks in warehouse management. You do all this together with several colleagues, of course. Many mouths need to be fed. Besides being a caterer, you are also a soldier, of course, and you will become acquainted with everything that entails. Think of shooting and military first aid. In short: a varied job in which all aspects of working in the kitchen are present and much more!

Please note: There are multiple call-up moments (start dates) per year. The call-up date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the security investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been positively completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at the Supply & Transport Command (B&TCo), located in Stroe. The B&TCo is part of the Operational Support Command Army (OOCL). The OOCL provides operational support to the combat units of the Ministry of Defence.

Before you start, you will first follow the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Ermelo. This training lasts 10 weeks. After that, you will follow the Advanced Logistics Training (VLO) in Stroe.

As a soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any other soldier, you may be deployed on a mission.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, so does your salary. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

As a Soldier Military Cook, you ensure that the materials used within the Royal Netherlands Air Force are correctly booked in, properly packed, and sent to the right location.

When you advance to Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Logistics, you can work in various logistics domains, such as Procurement, Transport, Warehouse & Distribution, Operational Logistics, Facilities Management, and Supply Chain Management.

Later, as a Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Logistics, you can specialize in one of the domains and train and coach new junior non-commissioned officers in it.
