Introductory text

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP level 2? Are you now looking for a position within the Ministry of Defence that aligns with it? As an Infantry Soldier, you and your team will go to the scene of action in an armored vehicle, where you will conduct ground combat.

What you will do

The infantry of the Army is formed by military personnel who conduct ground combat. Armored infantry is often deployed in complex terrain, such as forest areas and villages and cities. Armored infantry is equipped with automatic and semi-automatic small arms, onboard weapon systems, mortars, and anti-tank weapons.

As an Infantry Soldier, you are part of a group of ten military personnel with a light armored vehicle. You usually perform tasks outside the vehicle, rain or shine. Think of conducting patrols and clearing houses and forests. But also maintaining equipment, security, and camouflage.

Please note: There are multiple enlistment dates (start dates) per year. The enlistment date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the security investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at a unit of the 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot or the 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.

After enlistment, you will first follow the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Oirschot or Assen. After completion, you will start the job-specific training at the Manoeuvre Training and Education Centre in Amersfoort. If you do not yet have a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driving training at the Driving Training and Education Centre in Oirschot. The training lasts approximately 10 months in total.

As a Military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that you, like any Military member, may be deployed abroad.

MBO 2, MBO 3, MBO 4 You are between 17 years and 28 years and 11 months old. Wearing glasses or contact lenses is not a problem.

As a soldier in the Armored Infantry, you are part of a team.

You could, for example, decide to work as a logistics specialist for Defence after two roles in the armored infantry.

After retraining, you will then work as a corporal in a transport unit.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow with you. In addition to your salary, as a military member, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
