VeVa Soldier Engineer - Air Assault

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training O&V or GROP level 2? Do you enjoy working in a team and can you improvise well? Then become an Air Assault Soldier Engineer. A varied job with the most versatile unit of a combat unit deployable anywhere in the world.

What you will do

The Air Assault Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on-site anywhere in the world within 20 days to provide assistance or combat a conflict. Helicopters guarantee the Air Assault Brigade rapid troop deployment and also ensure the transport of weapons, materiel, food, and other supplies.

As an Air Assault Soldier Engineer, you will clear minefields, obstacles, and other impediments. You will use, among other things, power tools and explosives. You will also contribute to construction work. Think, for example, of building and maintaining camps, emergency facilities, and bridges. Because the necessary material cannot always be carried by helicopter, you will have to improvise regularly.

Note: There are multiple start dates (commencement dates) per year. The commencement date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the outcome of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

Where you will work

You will work at the 11th Engineer Company of the Air Assault Brigade in Schaarsbergen or Assen.

After joining, you will first follow the General Military Training Air Assault (AMOL) in Schaarsbergen or Assen. In the AMOL, you will be trained to be able to operate as an individual soldier in an operational area and function within a military organization. After completion, you will start the job-specific training at the Engineer Training and Education Centre in Vught. If you do not yet have a driver's license, you will additionally follow the driver's training at the Driver Training and Education Centre in Oirschot. The training will take approximately 10 months in total.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that you, like any Soldier, may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. During your service obligation (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus, in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your service obligation, unless you wish to receive an advance payment.

With a full-time employment contract, depending on your age, you are entitled to 23-30 leave days per year. Do you have days left over? Then, under certain conditions, you can carry them over to the next year.
