VeVa Soldier Engineer CBRN (Hazardous Materials)

Introduction

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training O&V level 2 or 3? Then apply for a job at the most versatile part of the Army: the Engineers. As a Soldier Engineer CBRN, you are the expert in the field of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear substances (abbreviated: CBRN).

Note: If you are hired for this position, you will be appointed to Defense as a ‘Soldier Construction Engineer’.

What you will do

As a Soldier Engineer CBRN, you will work in a CBRN unit: the military construction company of the Army, specializing in combat support and construction. This makes your daily activities extra varied, because in addition to construction tasks, you will also be involved in structural, electrical, and installation engineering work. You are a soldier, CBRN- and construction specialist in one.

You start in a decontamination unit, supporting the DIM platoon (Detect, Identify, and Monitor) with their tasks. If there is an incident with hazardous materials? Then you and the DIM platoon immediately take action together. You will jointly build a wash bay to decontaminate vehicles that have been in an area with hazardous materials. You can also be sent to an area to decontaminate it, so that the local population can live there or so that our own troops can operate safely. In this way, you and your unit prevent hazardous materials from being carried along with vehicles or personnel to our own troops. An important task!

Where you will work

You will be operationally placed at 13 Light Brigade, 41 Armored Engineer Battalion/414 CBRN, or at the 43 Mechanized Brigade in Oirschot or Wezep. Occasionally, specialists go on deployment, but not as a unit. However, you will participate in exercises: you will follow a fixed CBRN training in Canada.

Before you start working, you will first complete the four-month Basic Royal Netherlands Army Training (BOKL) in Assen, Ermelo, or Oirschot, followed by a 12-week internal Functional Training at the CBRN. After successfully completing the training, you will immediately begin your career as a Soldier Engineer CBRN in the Army.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. During your term of service (including your initial training), you will build up an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your term of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment, depending on your age, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year. Do you have days left over? You can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
