Introductory Text

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP level 2? And are you looking for a varied and adventurous job where you can really make a difference for others? As a Soldier Medical Assistant, you have an assisting role in military healthcare, thereby making an important contribution to medical services during exercises and deployments for both Dutch soldiers and those of our allies, and possibly also for civilians during national and international missions.

What you will do

As a Soldier Medical Assistant, you will be part of a medical unit. You can work within a hospital company or as a driver of, for example, a military ambulance. During exercises and deployments, such a unit builds a complete hospital with operating rooms, treatment rooms, and intensive care units. You will support and assist nurses. You will care for the wounded and assist in preparing them for transport, or transport them to or from another medical facility. Other tasks you will perform include equipment maintenance and the setup, readiness, and dismantling of the hospital. This also includes aspects like security and camouflage.

Upon commencement of the position (after completing the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army and specialized training), you must possess a civilian driver's license B. Do you not have this? Then Defense will help you obtain the driver's license and cover the costs. However, you are responsible for obtaining the driver's license in a timely manner.

Note: There are multiple start dates throughout the year. The start date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at a Medical Unit of the 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte, or the 400 Medical Battalion of the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL) in Ermelo.

After joining, you will first complete the Basic Training Royal Netherlands Army (BOKL) in Assen or Oirschot. This training lasts 4 months. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Institute for Defense Medical Training in Hollandse Rading. Your training will last approximately 10 months in total.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you should be aware that, like any Soldier, you may be deployed on missions.

As a Soldier Medical Assistant, you are responsible for the supplies of the medical unit where you work.

You decide to follow a logistics training at Defense's expense.

After obtaining your diploma, you will have the opportunity to become a non-commissioned officer. You will then be in a leadership role.

Your starting salary depends on your age, education level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience grow, so will your salary. In addition to your salary, as a soldier, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The salaries mentioned on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then, under certain conditions, you can carry them over to the next year.
