Introductory text

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa ICT level 3 training? And are you now looking for a position within the Defense organization that matches it? As a Warrant Officer Communications Service with the Army, you will lead a team responsible for ICT and communications.

What you will do

The Communications Service installs, operates, and maintains all telecommunications equipment and connections within the Royal Netherlands Army. This ranges from telephone, fax, and computer to radio and satellite connections. The Communications Service also handles mail delivery. The work is mainly carried out during exercises and deployments. As a Warrant Officer Communications Service, you will lead a team responsible for multiple communication means. You will not only be able to operate the equipment present within the group but also train your personnel so they can operate the systems as well.

Please note: There are multiple enlistment dates (start dates) per year. The enlistment date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Screening. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

Where you will work

You will work at a unit of the Operational Support Command Army (OOCL) in 't Harde or Apeldoorn, the headquarters of 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps in Münster, Germany, or one of the two combat brigades: 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot or 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.

After entering service, you will first follow the Warrant Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. Afterward, you will undergo the job-specific training at the School of Communications Service in Ede. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also follow the driver training at the Training and Education Center for Driving in Oirschot.

As a soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that you may be deployed, just like any soldier.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. On top of your salary, as a soldier, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The mentioned salaries on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Under certain conditions, you can carry them over to the following year.

You start as a sergeant in the communications service, immediately leading a group of soldiers, so you will have a lot of responsibility.

After a few positions, you will become a sergeant-major. In this role, you are the link between the young sergeants and the platoon commander.
