Job description

Introductory text

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering level 3 or level 4? Are you a technical jack-of-all-trades? Someone who can check and repair anything that spins, runs, sucks, jumps, or ticks? And do you prefer to work in a close-knit team and a high-tech environment. Then apply as a Junior Officer Technical Service Avionics in the Navy – a job where you and your team tackle the most diverse technical challenges.

What you will do

As a Junior Officer Technical Service Avionics, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the most diverse systems of the NH-90NFH. Planned maintenance and troubleshooting of systems such as the surveillance radar, the sonar systems for submarine detection, weapon systems for dropping torpedoes, or the fly-by-wire control system of the most advanced military helicopter in the world are part of the daily work. The main operational area of the NH-90NFH is, of course, from Navy ships. As a helicopter maintenance mechanic, you will become part of the ship's crew from that moment on.

Please note: There are multiple induction dates (start dates) per year. The induction date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Clearance. As soon as all parts of the application process have been positively completed, the start date will be discussed and finalized with you.

Where you will work

You will work on board a Navy ship or at a military airfield.

After entering service, you will first complete the basic military training: the maritime military formation, where you will learn all general ship tasks, among other things. After completing the initial training, you will follow the type-specific NH-90NFH training for B2 Technician at the Maritime Air Base De Kooy in Den Helder. After passing the proficiency test, you will receive an official Military Aircraft Maintenance Certificate B2 from the Military Aviation Authority, fully compliant with Part-66.

As a Military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any Military member, you may be deployed.

€3,400 ~ €4,250 salary €6,000 bonus per year 23 ~ 30 days off per year Get your driver's license for free Location: Den Helder

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience grow, your salary will also increase. On top of your salary, as a military member, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The stated salaries on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. More info

During your service obligation (including your initial training), you will build up – in addition to your salary – an annual (gross) engagement bonus. This will be paid out at the end of your service obligation, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

Don't have a driver's license yet? Get it for free at Defensie! We are happy to help you move forward, and not just when it comes to your career. If you come to work for the Navy, Army, Air Force, or Marechaussee, you can therefore obtain your driver's license B at our expense. More information about driver's licenses at Defensie.
