Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training in Commercial Vehicle Technology level 3? And are you now looking for a role in the Defense organization that aligns with it? As a Non-Commissioned Officer Vehicle Systems Mechanic in the Army, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor.

What you will do

During deployments or exercises, but also at the barracks, a lot of equipment can break down. Therefore, the Army has repair units that are responsible for the maintenance and repair of wheeled and tracked vehicles, artillery, instruments, communication equipment, and power generators. Vehicle maintenance is initially carried out by the users themselves. For larger maintenance or major defects, the help of experts is called upon: our vehicle systems technicians.

As a Non-Commissioned Officer Vehicle Systems Mechanic, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor. In a deployment area, during an exercise at home or abroad, you will deal with defects caused by the intensive use of various vehicles. You will advise commanders and users on the deployment, use, and maintenance of the vehicles. You are also responsible for the group equipment entrusted to you, such as vehicles with associated weapons, communication equipment, and tools. As a commander, you will also provide training for your personnel.

Please note: There are multiple start dates (call-up dates) per year. The call-up date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the security screening. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and finalized with you.

Where you will work

You will work in one of the repair units of the Royal Netherlands Army. These units are located at numerous locations across the country.

After you start your employment, you will first follow the Non-Commissioned Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the job-specific training at the Defense Training and Education Center Logistics/Technical Service in Soesterberg. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also follow the driver's training at the Driver Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any military member, you may be deployed abroad.

After this, you can advance to the ranks of first sergeant and sergeant-major.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience grow, your salary will increase accordingly. In addition to your salary, as a military member, you also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The salaries mentioned on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. During your term of service (including your initial training), you will also build up an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus, in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your term of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment during your service.

With a full-time contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
