Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training in Commercial Vehicle Technology level 3? And are you now looking for a position in the Dutch Armed Forces that aligns with this? As a Junior Officer Vehicle Systems Mechanic in the Air Mobile Brigade, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor.

What you will do

The Air Mobile Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on location anywhere in the world within 20 days to provide assistance or combat conflict. Helicopters guarantee the Air Mobile Brigade rapid troop deployment and also ensure the transport of weapons, equipment, food, and other supplies.

During deployments or exercises, but also at the barracks, a considerable amount of equipment can break down. That is why the Army has repair units responsible for the maintenance and repair of wheeled and tracked vehicles, artillery, instruments, communication equipment, and generators. Users initially perform maintenance on vehicles themselves. For larger maintenance or major defects, the experts are called in: our vehicle system technicians.

As a Junior Officer Vehicle Systems Mechanic, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor. In a deployment area, during an exercise at home or abroad, you will encounter defects due to the intensive use of various vehicles. You will advise commanders and users on the deployment, use, and maintenance of the vehicles. You are also responsible for the group equipment entrusted to you, such as vehicles with associated weapons, communication equipment, and tools. As a commander, you will also be responsible for training your personnel.

Please note: There are multiple start dates (entry dates) per year. The entry date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Assessment, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

Where you will work

Depending on your preference and the organizational capacity, you will work with the Air Mobile Brigade in Schaarsbergen or Assen.

Upon entering service, you will first complete the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military Academy in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the vocational training at the Defense Training and Education Center Logistics/Technical Service in Soesterberg. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also complete the driver's training at the Driver Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any soldier, you may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, education level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. In addition to your salary, as a soldier, you will receive various structural and incidental allowances. The salaries listed on werkenbijdefensie.nl already include the VEB allowance. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your service period, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? You can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
