Have you (almost) completed your VeVa Mechatronics level 3 training? And are you now looking for a position in the Defense organization that aligns with it? As a Junior Officer Weapons Systems Mechanic in the Army, you will work as a mechanic on weapon systems and also as a leader.

What you will do

During deployments or exercises, but also at the barracks, a lot of equipment can become defective. That is why the Army has recovery units, which are responsible for the maintenance and repair of wheeled and tracked vehicles, artillery, instruments, communication equipment, and generators. Our current weapon systems also contain more and more electronics.

As a Junior Officer Weapons Systems Mechanic, you are both a mechanic and a leader. In a deployment area, during an exercise at home or abroad, you will encounter defects due to the intensive use of the various weapon systems. You will advise users of weapon systems on their use and maintenance. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the group equipment entrusted to you, such as vehicles with associated weapons, communication equipment, and tools. As a commander, you will also provide training for your personnel.

Please note: There are multiple start dates (call-up dates) per year. The call-up date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, your start date will be discussed and finalized with you.

Where you will work

You will work at one of the recovery units of the Royal Netherlands Army. These units are located at a large number of sites in the country.

After joining, you will first follow the Junior Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the job-specific training at the Defense Training and Education Center Logistics/Technical Service in Soesterberg. If you do not yet have a driver's license, you will also follow the driving training at the Driving Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like all military personnel, you may be deployed.

Your starting salary depends on your age, education level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience grow, your salary will also increase. In addition to your salary, as a military member, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will build up an annual (gross) engagement premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
