Have you (almost) completed your VeVa Mechatronics Level 3 training? And are you now looking for a position in the Defense organization that aligns with it? As a Junior Officer Weapons Systems Mechanic in the Army, you will work as a mechanic on weapon systems but also as a supervisor.

What you will do

During deployments or exercises, but also at the barracks, a lot of material can break down. That's why the Army has repair units responsible for the maintenance and repair of wheeled and tracked vehicles, artillery, instruments, communication equipment, and generators. Our current weapon systems also contain more and more electronics.

As a Junior Officer Weapons Systems Mechanic, you are both a mechanic and a supervisor. In a deployment area, during an exercise at home or abroad, you will deal with defects due to the intensive use of various weapon systems. You will advise users of weapon systems on their use and maintenance. Furthermore, you are responsible for the group equipment entrusted to you, such as vehicles with associated weapons, communication equipment, and tools. As a commander, you will also provide training for your personnel.

Note: There are multiple enlistment dates (start dates) throughout the year. The enlistment date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at one of the repair units of the Royal Netherlands Army. These units are located at numerous sites throughout the country.

After joining, you will first follow the Junior Officer Training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defense Training and Education Center Logistics/Technical Service in Soesterberg. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also follow the driving training at the Driving Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that, like every Soldier, you may be deployed.

MBO 3 You are between 17 years and 30 years and 11 months old. Wearing glasses or contact lenses is not a problem.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow with you. On top of your salary, as a soldier, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. The VEB allowance is already included in the stated salaries on werkenbijdefensie.nl. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will build up an annual gross enlistment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
