Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP or O&V level 3? As a Junior Officer in the Armored Engineers (Combat Support Engineer), you will lead a group of approximately ten soldiers. The Engineers are an indispensable link in conflicts and peacekeeping operations. The Engineers ensure that friendly forces can move freely under all circumstances, anywhere in the world if possible, and that the enemy cannot. Additionally, the Engineers provide protection and habitability in places where the armed forces are deployed. They do this with extensive technical knowledge and improvisation skills. Engineers are skilled, efficient, broadly deployable, and use their technical talent to accomplish their missions.

What you will do

You can view the Engineers as a large construction company and the civil engineers of the Army. The Engineers are also called the construction company of the armed forces. An Engineer unit has multiple tasks. For instance, they can lay and clear mines, construct and destroy bridges, roads, and airfields, and build shelters, observation posts, and combat positions. The Engineers focus primarily on slowing down the advancing enemy and neutralizing the work of the enemy Engineers. Furthermore, the Engineers carry out decontamination operations in the field of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) substances.

As a Junior Officer Engineer CSE, you will lead a group within the Armored Engineers. Your group will support combat units during battle by making and keeping the terrain passable. Simultaneously, you will attempt to make the terrain more difficult for the enemy to traverse, for example, by creating obstacles.

As a Junior Officer, you are responsible for the training and readiness of your personnel and you will provide their education and training in the area of individual military skills.

Note: There are multiple start dates throughout the year. The start date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Assessment, the Medical Examination, and the security screening. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

Where you will work

You will work at an Engineer unit of the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL) in Wezep, 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, or at 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.

After commencing service, you will first follow the Junior Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defense Training and Education Center Engineers in Vught. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will also follow the driver training at the Training and Education Center Drivers in Oirschot.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that, like any Soldier, you may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will grow with you. During your term of service (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your term of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment.

With a full-time contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
