Job description

Introduction Text

Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP or O&V level 3? As a Junior Officer in the Air Assault Engineers (Combat Support Engineer), you will lead a group of approximately ten soldiers. The Engineers are an indispensable link in conflicts and peacekeeping operations. The Engineers ensure that friendly troops can move freely under all circumstances, anywhere in the world if possible, and that the enemy cannot. In addition, the Engineers provide protection and habitability in places where the armed forces are deployed. They do this with a lot of technical knowledge and improvisation skills. Engineers are skilled, efficient, broadly deployable, and use their technical talent to accomplish their missions.

This is what you will do

The Air Assault Brigade is a rapidly deployable unit that can be on-site anywhere in the world within 20 days to provide assistance or combat a conflict. Helicopters guarantee the Air Assault Brigade rapid troop deployment and also ensure the transport of weapons, materiel, food, and other supplies.

You can see the Engineers as a large construction company and the civil engineers of the Army. The Engineers are also called the construction company of the armed forces. An Engineer unit has multiple tasks. For example, they can lay and clear mines, construct and demolish bridges, roads, and airfields, and build shelters, observation posts, and combat positions. The Engineers focus primarily on slowing down the advancing enemy and undoing the work of the enemy Engineers. In addition, the Engineers perform decontamination activities in the area of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) substances.

As a Junior Officer Engineer CSE, you will lead a group in the Air Assault Engineers. Your group will support combat units during the fight by making and keeping the terrain passable. At the same time, you will try to make the terrain more difficult for the enemy to traverse, for example, by erecting obstacles.

As a Junior Officer, you are responsible for the proficiency and deployability of your personnel, and you will provide their training in individual military skills.

Note: There are multiple start dates per year. The start date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the outcome of the Psychological Assessment, the Medical Examination, and the Security Screening. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

This is where you will work

Depending on your preference and the space within the organization, you will work at the Air Assault Brigade in Schaarsbergen or Assen.

After being hired, you will first follow the Junior Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the specialized training at the Defence Training and Education Centre Engineers in Vught. If you do not yet have a driver's license, you will also follow the driver training at the Training and Education Centre Driving in Oirschot.

As a Soldier, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any Soldier, you can be deployed on missions.

€3.400 ~ €4.250 salary €3.600 bonus per year 23 ~ 30 days off per year Get your driver's license for free Location: Ermelo

Your starting salary depends on your age, education level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. In addition to your salary, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances as a soldier. The VEB allowance is already included in the mentioned salaries on werkenbijdefensie.nl. More information

During your period of service (including your initial training), you will accrue an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time contract, you are entitled to 23-30 vacation days per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

No driver's license yet? Get it for free at Defence! We are happy to help you move forward, and not just when it comes to your career. If you come to work for the Navy, Army, Air Force, or Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, you can get your driver's license B at our expense. More information about driver's licenses at Defence.
