Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training O&V level 3? Then become a Junior Officer in Construction Engineering in the Army. As a Junior Officer in Combat Engineer Construction, you will work for the 'construction company' of the Royal Netherlands Army. You will lead a group of about ten military personnel. The Engineers are an indispensable link in conflicts and peacekeeping operations. The Engineers ensure that friendly troops can move freely under all circumstances, if possible anywhere in the world, and that the enemy cannot. In addition, the Engineers provide protection and livability in places where the armed forces are deployed. They do this with extensive technical knowledge and improvisational talent. Combat engineers are skilled, efficient, broadly deployable, and use their technical talent to accomplish their assignments.

What you will do

You can see the Engineers as a large contracting company and the civil engineers of the Army. The Engineers are also called the construction company of the armed forces. An engineer unit has multiple tasks. For example, it can lay and clear mines, build and destroy bridges, roads, and airfields, and construct shelters, observation posts, and combat positions. The Engineers focus mainly on slowing down the advancing enemy and undoing the work of the enemy's Engineers. In addition, the Engineers perform decontamination activities in the field of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) agents.

As a Junior Officer in Combat Engineer Construction (Force Support Engineer), you are responsible for leading your group, as a squad leader, under all circumstances. As a junior officer, you are the role model as a craftsman and coach to train and educate your group for assignments and missions all over the world. You do this in a physically challenging environment that demands your technical and organizational improvisational talent. As a Junior Officer in Combat Engineer Construction, you and your group are the implementers of construction and civil engineering projects; you build roads, bridges, or even a complete military camp with all its facilities.

As a Junior Officer, you are responsible for the readiness and deployability of your personnel, and you provide their training in individual military skills.

Please note: There are multiple start dates throughout the year. The start date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the security investigation. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

You will work at an Engineer unit of the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL) in Wezep, 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, or at 43 Mechanized Brigade in Havelte.

After joining, you will first follow the Junior Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. After completion, you will start the job-specific training at the Defence Training and Education Centre for Engineers in Vught. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally follow driver training at the Training and Education Centre for Driving in Oirschot.

As a Military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, like any Military member, you may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will grow with you. During your term of service (including your initial training), you will build up an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your term of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
