Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP Level 3? Are you flexible, independent, a good team player, persistent, and do you see yourself in a leadership role in the future? Then, after your training at the Royal Military Academy, we have a job for you immediately; as a Reconnaissance Soldier in the Army's Cavalry.

What you will do

As a Non-Commissioned Officer Cavalry Reconnaissance in the Army, you will gather tactical information for your unit. As a soldier in this unit, you are the ears and eyes of the brigade as a reconnaissance soldier, while you move in Fennek type reconnaissance vehicles. As a Non-Commissioned Officer Cavalry Reconnaissance, you will start as a vehicle commander and lead two reconnaissance soldiers. You will operate in a group of two reconnaissance vehicles, a total of 6 soldiers. You are part of a reconnaissance platoon consisting of 8 or 6 reconnaissance vehicles. Together with your team, you will gather information about the strength, location, and plans of the enemy. Your tasks include searching for command posts, logistical installations, and reconnaissance of bridges and routes. You can also be deployed to guard the front and flanks of your brigade, where you will have various high-tech weapons and equipment at your disposal, such as Unmanned Arial Systems (UAS), battlefield radars, and unmanned ground sensors.

Where you will work

You will be stationed at one of the four brigades of the Army. These are located at numerous locations throughout the country. You will participate in exercises and should take into account that you may be deployed abroad.

Before you start working, you will first follow the Non-Commissioned Officer training at the Royal Military Academy in Ermelo, Oirschot, Assen, or Schaarsbergen, where you will learn all basic military skills, followed by the Technical Training at the Maneuver Training and Education Center in Amersfoort. After successfully completing your training, you will immediately begin your career as a Non-Commissioned Officer Cavalry Reconnaissance.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow. In addition, as a soldier, you will receive various structural and incidental allowances on top of your salary. The VEB allowance is already included in the salaries listed on werkenbijdefensie.nl. With a full-time employment, depending on your age, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.

After two functions in reconnaissance, you might decide to become an instructor at a school battalion, where you will train soldiers for the units.
