Have you (almost) completed your VeVa Healthcare level 4 education? And are you now looking for a position within the Defense organization that aligns with it? Then the role of Non-Commissioned Officer General Military Nurse is for you. After the training, you will provide medical care to soldiers of the Army or during deployments domestically or abroad, and sometimes to civilians. You will do this together with the medical caregivers whom you will manage.

What you will do

Within the Defense organization, we want to offer every employee the best medical care. That is why we have an extensive Medical Service, with our own (dentist) doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, and pharmacists.

As a Non-Commissioned Officer General Military Nurse, you are both a nurse and a leader. You will perform your duties within a hospital or aid station team, which receives, treats, and prepares casualties and patients for transport to another medical facility. Under the leadership of a military doctor, you will independently perform your medical tasks and also manage four medical caregivers. Additionally, you will provide lessons to your own staff, as well as to soldiers from units that are supported by your unit.

Please note: There are multiple intake dates (start dates) per year. The intake date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Screening. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Where you will work

Depending on your preference and the available positions within the organization, you will work at one of the units of the Royal Netherlands Army. These units are located at a large number of locations throughout the country.

After commencing employment, you will first follow the Non-Commissioned Officer training at the Royal Military School in Ermelo, where you will learn all basic military skills. Subsequently, you will follow the specialized training at the Defense Healthcare Training and Education Center in Hilversum. If you do not yet possess a driver's license, you will additionally complete the driver's training at the Driver Training and Education Center in Oirschot.

As a Military member, you will participate in various exercises. Furthermore, you must take into account that, just like any Military member, you may be deployed abroad.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow with you. In addition to your salary, as a military member, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. During your period of service (including your initial training), you will accumulate an annual (gross) appointment premium/bonus in addition to your salary. This will be paid out at the end of your period of service, unless you wish to receive an advance payment in the meantime.

With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Under certain conditions, you can carry them over to the following year.

In the future, as a Sergeant Major, you will lead a group of AMVs.
