VeVa Seaman Operational Service General Deck
Job description
Introductory text
Have you (almost) completed your VeVa Maritime Level 2 training? Do you want to sail the world's oceans with a ship? And contribute to peace and security? Then apply as a Seaman Operational Service Deck at the Royal Netherlands Navy. In our close-knit teams, colleagues often become friends for life.
What you will do
As a Seaman Operational Service Deck, you will be involved in sailing and fighting the ship. Together with your teammates, you will keep a large area around the ship under close observation. You will do this with high-tech equipment, but also by looking out from the bridge. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the deck, lifeboats, and lower decks, steering the ship, loading and unloading, and preparing mooring lines. This also includes mine countermeasures.
Please note: There are multiple intake moments (start dates) per year. The intake date for which you are eligible will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the Security Investigation. As soon as all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and confirmed with you.

Subsequently, you will begin your first vocational training. After completion, you will complete an 8-month internship on board and carry out assignments under supervision. Here you will gain practical experience in all onboard techniques and become familiar with working and living on a navy ship.
As a Military person, you will participate in various exercises. Additionally, you must take into account that, like any Military person, you may be deployed.
