Have you (almost) completed your VeVa training GROP level 2 or 3? Are you looking for a position within the Ministry of Defence that aligns with it? As a Marine, you are always prepared to go the extra mile. Anywhere in the world, you are deployable within 48 hours. From the suffocating heat of the jungle to the icy polar night. Are you a sporty man or woman with excellent health?

What you will do

As a Marine, you participate in international peace operations of NATO and the United Nations. Within 48 hours, you can be deployed anywhere in the world. The Netherlands Marine Corps is also jointly responsible for the defence of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. It is important that you are always ready for deployment. Therefore, you must be prepared for anything, both physically and mentally. Marines therefore engage in a lot of sports and physical exercise and train in the most diverse conditions. On water and in the mountains, in humid heat and freezing dry cold. You can also specialize as a paratrooper, frogman, sports instructor, or ski instructor. In short: as a Marine, you expand your world. Literally and figuratively.

Please note: There are multiple call-up dates (start dates) per year. The call-up date you are eligible for will be determined later. This depends, among other things, on the results of the Psychological Examination, the Medical Examination, and the security screening. Once all parts of the application process have been successfully completed, the start date will be discussed and agreed upon with you.

Where you will work

The motto of the Netherlands Marine Corps is 'Qua Patet Orbis': as wide as the world extends. This is because you can be deployed anywhere in the world for peace operations and special missions. Even during exercises, you are often far from home: for example, in northern Norway, in the Antilles, or in Martinique.

To become a Marine, you will follow training in Rotterdam. The Marine training consists of two parts: a basic part; the Elementary Military Training Marines (EMV MARNS) and a technical part; the First General Marine Vocational Training (EVO MARNALG).

You will alternate training weeks at the barracks with field exercises and an amphibious exercise on Texel. During the training, there is a strong emphasis on physical strength, endurance, and perseverance. You will also learn to handle weapons and to (survive) as a Marine. But the most important aspect is learning to work together as a team. After 30 weeks, you will undertake a very demanding final exercise. If you pass this well, you will start working at one of the operational units at a Marine barracks in the Netherlands, Aruba, or the Netherlands Antilles.

MBO 2, MBO 3, MBO 4 You are between 17 years and 28 years and 11 months old. Wearing glasses or contact lenses is not a problem. You must be able to swim.

As a fit and trained marine, you are part of a group within your unit. Within 48 hours, you are deployable anywhere in the world.

After your promotion to Corporal of Marines, you will lead your group members.

As a Sergeant, you will support the Lieutenant in leading a platoon of Marines. You will plan and prepare exercises and missions.

Your starting salary depends on your age, educational level, and experience. As your knowledge and experience increase, your salary will also grow with you. In addition to your salary, as a military member, you will also receive various structural and incidental allowances. With a full-time employment contract, you are entitled to 23-30 days of leave per year, depending on your age. Do you have days left over? Then you can carry them over to the next year under certain conditions.
