Job description

For Municipality Leiden, we are looking for a Traffic Coordinator. As a Traffic Coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring that the city is accessible, traffic-safe, and livable during urbanization projects and the transition to sustainable mobility. You advise on larger projects as a Traffic Manager and support colleagues as a full-fledged sparring partner in their role on various projects. With your experience as a traffic manager, you work on temporary accessibility issues and steer processes within the BLVC framework effectively. You are also communicatively strong and ensure that goals are realized in multidisciplinary cooperation.

Examples of projects where you will be working include the Plesmanlaan and Willem de Zwijgerlaan as part of the Leiden Ring North, tunnel and bridge renovations, a car-free city center, and developments in the Lammenschansdriehoek. You also work on smaller projects, such as Kopermolen, to keep the city accessible. You lead traffic coordination by working together with internal and external partners to create a logical planning of roadwork, events, and construction activities on the network Traffic Regulation.

As a Traffic Coordinator, you determine together with partners a strategy for smooth execution and at the same time keeping the city accessible. You work on timeframes (windows) and made agreements within the BLVC framework with traffic sensitivity. You plan work in MELVIN and ensure that these notifications remain up-to-date. MELVIN is used as a planning tool to find interfaces and adjust with colleagues road managers. Additionally, forward planning for 5-10 years, in cooperation with the project office or Zuid Holland Bereikbaar, can be part of your tasks.

You contribute to the development and positioning of traffic regulation. You know how to create and maintain support among stakeholders through intensive cooperation and setting up meetings. You ensure that support is maintained when establishing timeframes and formally approving temporary traffic measures. Your knowledge of Melvin, NMS, and Diego enables you to set up scenario's with other road managers for traffic plans that cause less hindrance during large projects. Affinity and experience with innovations in the field of Dynamic Traffic Management, traffic data, monitoring, and GIS-ICT are necessary to handle future-oriented issues in large accessibility challenges.

Additionally, you answer questions from residents, conduct research into reports or ensure that questions reach the right place. Where possible, you carry out inspections at locations where this is necessary. With your pleasant communicative personality, you bridge the advising towards environmental management and work interdisciplinarily together.

Due to your extensive experience, you also play a role in coaching colleagues within the traffic regulation team. Your solid traffic knowledge enables you to support colleagues within the traffic regulation team in a pleasant, transparent, and cooperative manner, and further develop them in the field of traffic management. You contribute to a good working atmosphere within the team; humor is appreciated.

Within the Traffic Regulation team of this organization, you work together with five enthusiastic colleagues. There is a need for a strong traffic advisor on impactful projects in Leiden. The team advises and, where necessary, approves temporary work activities at various scales.

Together with the team, we look at the exact needs for expanding the formation. In anticipation of this, you will support the colleagues and carry out the work.
