Traffic Advisor Mobility/Spatial Planning

As a traffic advisor at the municipality of Utrecht, you will be involved in various daily tasks. You handle resident notifications as a neighborhood traffic advisor, write advice to the alderman and participate in projects aimed at solving area problems, residential complexes or improving physical infrastructure in the city. You work together with neighborhood traffic advisors, strategic area advisors and -regisseurs and colleagues from different disciplines within the municipality of Utrecht, and sometimes also with external parties. You will have the opportunity to contribute to new developments that require mobility solutions to be thought out.

The city is growing rapidly. Within and outside the existing city limits, the housing stock is being expanded, among other things through projects such as Winkelcentrum Nova, Krachtstation and Livingstonelaan 609. This requires adjustments in infrastructure and has direct consequences for the accessibility of the city.

You will temporarily join the teams that work together on these challenges, alongside regular tasks that continue to run.

Your tasks

• You provide traffic-related and traffic-technical advice on the topics of design, parking, accessibility and road safety.
• Depending on your work experience, you can be used to evaluate notifications so that fixed colleagues can focus on projects without your involvement.
• You participate in the neighborhood traffic meeting, area team and other meetings.
• You translate the Mobility Policy of the municipality of Utrecht into daily practice in neighborhoods and areas.
• You support the neighborhood traffic advisor and/or strategic area advisors so that they have space to advise on mobility in complex, integral projects within neighborhoods and areas.

The tasks are divided in consultation, matching the different experience levels within the team.

Your profile

• HBO work and thinking level.
• Preferrably a completed education in traffic science or comparable.
• A few years of work experience as a traffic scientist, preferably in a government setting.
• Work experience at a municipality is a plus.
• You are knowledgeable about traffic and have up-to-date knowledge of traffic science.

Competencies and skills

• You are communicatively strong.
• You possess good insight.
• You are proactive and handle notifications quickly.
