Job description

Whether you call yourself a UX Designer, Interaction Designer, or Product Designer: you ensure that digital products and services work logically for the people who use them. You move easily between strategy, user needs, interaction, and technology. From initial insight and concept to a detailed design that is actually built and used.

What will you do as a UX Designer at Norday?

At Norday, we work on complex issues where the right solution is not always immediately clear. New technology, changing expectations, and societal developments require organizations to choose a direction and make that direction concrete.

As a UX Designer, you help with that. You expand the imagination of clients with sharp insights and fast prototypes. You investigate what people need, make complex information understandable, and translate strategic choices into digital products and services that work in practice. You will work closely with strategists, service designers, visual designers, developers, and project managers.

You will work on new digital platforms, smart tools, personalized experiences, and new services. Sometimes a clear strategy is already in place, and sometimes you help shape it together with the team. You are involved throughout the entire process: from the initial question and research to concept, design, validation, and realization.

What you will do:

  • You dive into the context of an issue and map out users, needs, goals, and bottlenecks;

  • You translate insights and strategy into a concept, user flows, journeys, and prototypes;

  • You make complex issues understandable and help clients and teams make choices;

  • You facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with clients, users, and colleagues;

  • You devise and test different solution directions and use insights from research to further refine your design;

  • You investigate how AI can contribute to new services, better experiences, and value for organizations and the people who use them;

  • You ensure that interactions, flows, and details are clear for visual designers, developers, and agents;

  • You monitor the user experience until the product or service actually works;

  • You collaborate with strategists and other disciplines on solutions that not only work well but also contribute to the direction and value of the organization.

Who are you?

  • You are curious about how people use things and why they make certain choices. You are good at listening, asking follow-up questions, and making connections. At the same time, you are not someone who keeps researching endlessly: you get energy from making insights concrete and bringing different perspectives together into a clear solution.

  • You can switch between the bigger story and the detail. You understand what a strategic choice means for a user experience and know what is needed to make an idea technically and organizationally feasible.

  • You are independent in your work, actively seek collaboration, and can explain your design choices well to both clients and colleagues. You don't need to have the answer to everything. However, you want to understand what's going on and work together to find a solution that fits.

Our ideal UX Designer…

  • has several years of experience as a UX Designer, Interaction Designer, or Product Designer;

  • has experience with complex digital issues and designing digital products or services;

  • can independently handle research, concept development, interaction design, and prototyping;

  • has extensive experience with Figma and, for example, Miro or similar tools;

  • enjoys facilitating workshops and co-creation sessions;

  • can collaborate well with strategists, service designers, visual designers, and developers;

  • has a good command of the Dutch language, due to the high degree of client contact, interviews, workshops, and collaboration;

  • has a Bachelor's/Master's work and thinking level, for example, from CMD, Design for Interaction, or a similar education;

  • is curious about the possibilities of AI and experiments with it in their own processes. You see AI as a new way to conduct research, collaborate, design, and explore and test ideas faster.

What do we offer you?

  • A salary of €3,600 to €4,700 gross per month based on 40 hours, depending on your experience;

  • Hybrid working from Rotterdam and home;

  • A personal budget of €750 for your home office setup;

  • 25 vacation days;

  • A good pension scheme and lease bike scheme;

  • An NS Business Card;

  • A personal learning and development plan and plenty of room to learn from colleagues and subject matter experts;

  • Varied projects where strategy, design, technology, and domain knowledge come together;

  • A team of curious and committed colleagues who value quality;

  • The opportunity to contribute to the further development of Norday.

Norday promotes a diverse work environment and is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds and identities to apply. Furthermore, we take social and ecological impact into account in our decision-making and in your performance reviews.
