Job description

The Mines-Télécom Institute is the leading French public group of engineering and management 'Grandes Écoles'. It federates eight public schools, two subsidiary schools, and a vast network of academic, industrial, and institutional partners.

Mines Saint-Étienne, a school within the Mines-Télécom Institute, carries out missions in training, research, innovation, and industrial transfer. With 2,500 students, 500 staff members, and a budget of €50 million, it has three specialized campuses. Its 2023-2027 strategy aims to support ecological, digital, and generational transitions, while contributing to national and European sovereignty in microelectronics and digital technologies.

The Aix-Marseille-Provence campus, located in Gardanne, comprises the Provence Microelectronics Center (CMP), engineering and master's degree programs, a technological incubator, and prototyping platforms. It hosts approximately 400 students and 200 staff members from Mines Saint-Étienne and partner companies.

The CMP has a 700 m² cleanroom, equipped with about a hundred scientific instruments distributed in Class 100, 1,000, and 10,000 zones. This platform is used by research teams, academic and industrial members of the Micro-PackS association, as well as for initial and continuing education programs.

Its activities notably cover thin-film processes, photolithography, chemistry, physical and electrical characterization of materials and devices, micropackaging, printed electronics, and sample preparation.

🎯 What we expect from you

As part of the I-novmicro project led by the Campus of Professions and Qualifications for the Future Industry, training modules on microelectronic manufacturing processes are offered to students and learners in initial or continuing education. The training will focus on the fabrication of NMOS transistors.

The Provence Microelectronics Center is recruiting an engineer to implement and deliver these training courses, and to manage the operations necessary for their smooth running.

Your Missions:

Equipment Procurement

The selected candidate will initially manage the procurement of new equipment intended for the training programs described above.

Training Implementation

The candidate will be responsible for developing the training module on NMOS transistors, focusing on specific manufacturing processes. They will then conduct the training sessions on microelectronic processes associated with this module.

Therefore, the recruited person will need to be trained in standard microelectronic processes (front-end) and carry out the device fabrication steps developed within the framework of the training provided. They will also be responsible for developing new processes. In the context of these missions, the incumbent of the position will need to use chemicals and therefore manage the safety aspects. They will need to use characterization equipment (e.g., microscopy, ellipsometry, profilometry) as part of the training provided and will need to be able to train users in these techniques.

Research

Being associated with the CMP's research departments, particularly the flexible electronics department, complementary research activities are possible.

🔍 What we are looking for

Candidates must hold a minimum of a Master's degree (Bac+5), and have experience in microelectronics, cleanroom process, and characterization.

High versatility is required for this position, with particular expertise in:

  • Processes (knowledge and mastery): photolithography, wet and dry etching, thin-film deposition, and thermal treatments,

  • Physical characterization of materials and devices, and electrical characterization of devices.

Experience in technical training is a real asset.

The required qualities for the position are pedagogical skills, autonomy, rigor, method, and organization in work, technical ability, and ease of oral and written communication. The selected candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical skills, be pragmatic and initiative-driven, have team spirit, show interpersonal skills, and possess a service-oriented attitude.

Proficiency in English is necessary, particularly for communication with equipment suppliers or with certain English-speaking cleanroom users.
