Transport Planner

Job description

Function

As a Planner, you are responsible for coordinating and optimizing the planning of terminal activities and our logistics operations. The tasks below belong to your task package:

  • You ensure that the arrival and departure of ships, trains, and trucks, the allocation of berths, and the operational deployment of the quay run smoothly and efficiently;
  • You take into account the functionality of the terminal, the size of the ships, and the planned working hours;
  • You work closely with customers, operational teams, and external partners to guarantee optimal process execution;
  • You are responsible for the planning of ship and transport movements: you prepare and maintain arrival schedules, assign ships to the quay, and coordinate ship planning with the necessary stakeholders;
  • You are capable of adjusting cargo plans quickly and efficiently when necessary;
  • You ensure that everything is handled cost-effectively and with high quality, and you effectively resolve any conflicts or bottlenecks;
  • You ensure smooth operational alignment of the planning and proactively communicate any changes with all involved parties;
  • You maintain planning data in the necessary systems, perform analyses of planning processes, and make recommendations for improvements;
  • You ensure that the planning complies with all safety regulations, operational guidelines, and legal requirements.
  • You collect and process data in a timely manner for weekly and monthly reports to customs and excise authorities;
  • In addition, you monitor KPIs to analyze operational performance, throughput figures, and inventory movements, thereby generating valuable insights.


Profile

As a planner, you possess the qualities listed below:

  • You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (logistics, maritime studies) or equivalent experience;
  • You have several years of experience in a (ship) planning role within the (petro)chemical industry or maritime sector;
  • You are a proactive person with a hands-on mentality;
  • You are stress-resistant and remain flexible and solution-oriented, even when faced with unexpected situations;
  • Quality, safety, and environmental considerations are of great importance to you;
  • You have strong organizational skills, an eye for detail, and work accurately;
  • You have knowledge of MS Office: You are proficient in using the various programs;
  • You have good communication skills, both in Dutch and English;
  • Unexpected planning problems may arise outside of regular working hours. You are flexible and willing to resolve them if necessary.
