Transport Manager

We are looking for an experienced and driven Transport Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our transport division. This is a key role within our company, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with regulations, and the delivery of excellent customer service.

Job Summary

The Transport Manager will be responsible for managing the transport fleet, driving operational performance, and leading a team of drivers to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries. This role requires expertise in transport logistics, a strong focus on safety and compliance, and the ability to optimise fleet operations while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily management and operation of the transport fleet.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including WHS, fatigue management, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
• Develop and implement strategies to optimise transport routes, improve fleet utilisation, and reduce costs.
• Lead and manage a team of drivers, providing training, guidance, and performance management.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, fuel efficiency, and vehicle maintenance.
• Ensure high standards of safety and risk management are maintained across all operations.
• Work closely with the logistics team to optimise schedules and ensure timely deliveries.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Resolve operational issues, including delays, accidents, or vehicle breakdowns.
• Manage the transport department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining service standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in transport or logistics management, preferably within the freight or heavy vehicle sector.
• Strong knowledge of transport compliance, safety standards, and industry regulations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in transport management software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
