Installation Supervisor

For University of Utrecht, we are looking for an Installation Supervisor. You will work on the realization of the Anna Maria van Schurmangebouw, where four buildings in the heart of Utrecht will be combined into one central education center. Three monumental buildings from different periods will be renovated and redeveloped, while the university building from the 1950s will be replaced by new construction. At the place where the four buildings meet, a connecting atrium will be realized with a wooden arch structure, as a new time layer and symbol for connection.

You contribute to the development of an education center that brings together students, teachers, researchers, and guests. By combining the four buildings at Achter Sint Pieter and Achter de Dom, you help create an inviting education center that is clearly structured and remains connected with the street and the character of the inner city, respecting it.

The design provides for a light, transparent arch structure between the buildings, allowing their mutual openness to remain visible. This arch forms a physical and symbolic connection between the buildings, education and research in the Transcluster, and between the university and the city. You ensure that the existing buildings retain their own identity and at the same time form a future-proof whole.

In your role, you will work on the realization of approximately 3,500m2 gross floor area, consisting of both new construction and renovation of three monumental buildings. You are involved in the integral design team, which includes DP6 architecture studio, Galjema Technical Advisory Bureau, Pieters Building Technology, and LBPSight Advice & Engineering Bureau. You also collaborate with advisors such as Copijn Landscape Architects, Bureau Boot (environmental research), D-Tacs (commissioning manager), Transect (archaeology), and Aronsohn Management Consulting Engineers (direction management).

Your profile

• You are experienced in architectural supervision of complex renovation and new construction projects, preferably with monumental buildings.
• You have demonstrable knowledge of building history, restoration, and the application of modern techniques within a historical context.
• You possess excellent communication skills and can collaborate with various internal and external parties.
• You work structured, monitors progress and quality of work, and signals any potential bottlenecks or deviations in time.
