Job description

We develop and manufacture wheelsets and their components with the highest quality for all types of rail vehicles: classic trains and high-speed trains, subways, trams and local transport cars, locomotives and freight cars. And deliver to more than 80 countries worldwide.

We are looking for support for our "Engineering Light Rail" department.

Responsibilities

  • Independent execution of component tests on GHH products (rubber-sprung wheels, solid wheels, components, elastomer components) according to the respective requirements
  • Assembly, disassembly of GHH products
  • Support in the technical investigation and analysis of wheels and their components after operational use, test bench trials, or premature failures
  • Internal/external project tracking and technical communication with external partners
  • Development of test specifications/documentation/test reports
  • Creation of structural designs in CAD (SolidWorks): fixtures for component tests and/or structural modifications to existing components (e.g., wheel tires, wheel bodies or clamping rings) to enable required component tests
  • Coordination of the procurement of structural designs internally/externally

Preparation of test tasks, such as bonding strain gauges or wiring various sensors

  • Creation of test programs in the respective test software
  • Programming of scripts for evaluating measurement data in Matlab, Famos or Python

Qualifications

  • Completed mechanical engineering degree with a degree as Diplom-Ingenieur or Master of Engineering, preferably with a specialization in (rail) vehicle or design engineering
  • Knowledge in the field of static and dynamic component testing
  • Knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, electronics or mechatronics as well as an interest in measurement and sensor technology
  • Programming skills in the mentioned programs
  • Willingness to continuously learn new subject areas and apply the acquired knowledge
  • Communication skills and confident demeanor
  • Creative, open and solution-oriented way of working as well as the willingness to break new ground and incorporate interdisciplinary approaches
  • High team spirit and commitment
  • Proficient in common office programs and an ERP system
  • Very good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Physical suitability for demanding physical activities and work in various body postures
  • Willingness to travel, including to (non-European) foreign countries
